Where do we go from here on Healthcare?
Edited on Tue Nov-10-09 11:35 AM by berni_mccoy
Reid is going to compromise, this much is certain. Hey may have in his back-pocket the SHELP Committee bill that he must be prepared to go the route of Reconciliation, but given that this hasn't happened yet, I'd wager he's working on a compromise. What kind of compromise is left?

Snowe Trigger.

I don't think Sanders would Filibuster this, and it may be enough to get Lieberman not to Filibuster.

And it would make Snowe happy and likely get her vote.

I hate to say it, but I believe the Trigger is coming.

So how does that work with the House Bill? What happens then?

4. Sorry Debbie, the votes aren't going to magically change. How will your Mulligan Bill get the votes?
Care to explain how that works?

3. Flush it down the toilet and start over
Shit + shit = more shit. No matter how many ways you combine two crappy bills, you are not going to get a hot fudge sundae.

Start over with HR 676 and the Senate equivalent that Bernie Sanders wrote (forgot the bill number).

Tell the DLC'ers and Blue Balled Cowards to get on board with real reform or get the fuck out of the party

Tell the Repukes to sit down and shut the fuck up.

Tell the insurance corporations to.....

6. I honestly have no idea.
In about 15 years there'll be public outcry against the gouging corporations, and we might get a watered down single payer, with some people having better, but taxed, "cadillac" plans through their employers.

7. If the Senate passes anything, then it, along with the House bill, will go to Conference, where the
two will be merged.

If the Senate defeats a bill, then we will wait another 5, 10, 20, or 50 years to see another.

8. There is no starting over. We've been starting over for more than 60 years.
Starting over means NOTHING changes ever.

Anyone who thinks starting over is an option doesn't have a clue.
