Poll question: Where do you have your savings?
Now that the DOW is over 10,000,people who invested when it was at 6000 made a smart move.

Used that and the retirement funds up when we, with no warning, lost all funding for our business.

Wish I was smart enough to have done as you suggest. :)

:evilfrown:

I had to cash out of the market to finance my latest round of unemployment.

I'll have to start over from scratch when I start earning again. Assuming I find another job.

13. Several places....
Savings account, 401K, IRA,CD's and a few investments in the form of vintage guitars/amplifiers.

I didn't change a thing with my 401K when it tanked- I kept contributing and it was definitely the right decision.

and didn't actually get into it until March. It turns out that was perfect timing and I've done very well since then! and it's a lot of fun.

It's not big enough to do any fancy stuff with it, and I regularly have to empty it for emergencies/unexpected expenses.

33. All sorts of places...
I have a CD and savings account in one credit union

A savings account in another credit union

Three or four regular bank savings accounts

And a huge jar full of loose change

I used to have an online Treasury bonds account but used the money to buy a new washer and dryer...although there's still a small amount left

Of course, these are shared accounts with Mr Pip

We don't put aside a whole LOT of money each month, we just do it consistently, and after a while it adds up painlessly.

:)

36. Cash savings, bank.
Additional savings into the tyke's education fund. That's in a tax-sheltered fund that invests primarily in stock funds, for the time being.

If I had more cash, it would go mutual funds, bonds, and stock funds (in that order).

Otherwise, savings go into things that I can use, in which I value quality, and which also appreciate on the whole: good violin, good viola, good bow, good guitar, house.

smart move?

i wish there were a smart move to make. maybe a farm with a good water source and good topsoil. i've decided that gold is past its time now too. but stocks are propped up houses of cards. good luck tho! really, i hope they continue to increase for concrete reasons - like selling stuff to other countries that we make here. lol
