I have seen the light and now LOVE the HCR bill.... and here's why.
My daughter is over 21 and was thrown off our insurance plan. Under this wonderful proposal, we will now be able to add her back onto our coverage, and it won't cost us a dime. How great is that?

As for the objections that some radicals here have, you need to walk a mile in my shoes to understand that the hardship we suffer is about to be removed.

All of you complaining about the abortion ban - just ride that pony back to the ERA-era.

Don't like the mandate for supporting our great insurance companies - just try to stay out of jail when you dodge your obligation.

As a bonus, the insurance companies in my stock portfolio are going gangbusters.

Of course this version is not PERFECT but it will certainly help me out by saving money and enabling my daughter to get health insurance. Someone tell me why that is bad.

Thank GOD we have courageous Congressmen and Senators and a President who is looking out for me.

14. Yup. DU is an open forum, which I like, but it means that people only parading as Democrats
and outright fascist nutbtalls can post here. Thus, your "me me me" post would strike some as okay.

4. Not the current House bill though.
That one really sucks.

I agree with the president that the abortion language has to go.

5. yes good for you.
Despite forcing people to pay insurance companies hundreds of dollars per month...and not seeing anything back until 18 months later with a tax refund. By that time people should be good and broke...

Not to mention the bureaucratic procedural nightmare that is a government/private insurance venture.

The government will sign you up just fine. But the insurance companies will play all kinds of shenanigans to slow/keep claims from coming in.

The structures and process will be impossible for most lower income, poorly educated people.

The key part of this bill is a person without insurance will still not be able to go see and doctor and have it paid for.

with no simple public HC...I am against this bill.

You say this like it is a good thing, and not the reinstatement of debtors' prisons.

I hope your post is sarcastic. It is difficult to tell. It's ok to like a bill that would help you, but nothing else in your post makes any sense by any democratic, liberal, or progressive standards.

And as others have pointed out, this bill will probably not give your daughter good coverage.

I hope you have a LOT of insurance company stock in your portfolio. And if you have a "portfolio", stop complaining.

Hopefully, Stupak is a stupid distraction and won't be part of the final legislation, but who knows.

13. It's not all about YOU
The important thing is that this will allow Obama, Pelosi, and Reid to get a "win", declare victory, and move on and never have to deal with health care issues again. (I can already picture a huge victory celebration with a "mission accomplished" sign and Obama dressed like a doctor)

15. and there are millions of Americans who will benefit just like YOU
Edited on Tue Nov-10-09 10:13 AM by KittyWampus
so your sad attempt at portraying this as only being supported by a few who will personally benefit is a giant FAIL.

In fact, you are willfully ignoring reality.

In largely the same way a Freeper does.

19. And there are millions of Americans suffering right now
from what the insurance industry dubs "pre-existing conditions," who will be able to receive coverage thanks to this bill.

What shallow, Freeperish thinking, to portray support for this mixed bag of a bill as merely self-serving.

16. There were plenty of programs that came out that didn't help me one bit
and though it gets frustrating at times, I didn't get bitter about it. I realize that I am not the only person in the world that needs help and I'm OK with programs that only help others. Thanks for the snark.

23. My daughter (theone without insurance) has been trying to educate me about the true
nature of irony for years (she is a writer). According to her, "Ironic" by Alanis Morissette does not contain even one example of irony, at least as it is defined in literary terms.

I still haven't figured it out.
