1. I'd like for someone to explain this to me
We vote for representatives and senators to go to congress and fulfill the things we need for ourselves and our country. Now when they win and go to congress they are supposed to do OUR bidding. Most of the woman in this country want to have access to abortion. So why is there a problem with the congress person we elected doing our bidding and not voting to ban abortions. When they ran for office they knew they were supposed to do what the public elected them to do whether they liked it or not. So even if they don't believe in abortion, it is their duty to vote for womens access to this service.

I think I am going to start a letter writing campaign and ask those who think they are supposed to do what they want in congress and not what we want..."What in the hell do you think we elected you to do?" This is ridiculous. If people would write letters to them complaining and telling them you are not going to vote and if the got enough then maybe it would sink into those wooden heads of theirs that they are only there by the sufferance of the public and if they continue to act irresponsible then they might have a lot of freedom pretty soon to ponder that, back home and out of office.

2. I'll try to explain it.

For the most part, our representatives in Washington answer to the most powerful. Not us, the ones who elect them. They answer to the corporations, like the banks and the insurance companies, and the ever-growing religious right. Our writing letters and making phone calls doesn't seem to be effective against the big money, big church, big media influences. I continue to write and call though. Hope springs eternal, but it's getting harder every day to have hope.
