Loretta Sanchez on MJ now: "There are more pro-life than pro-choice representatives in Congress now"
Ladies, we have an uphill fight again. She was counting Dems in that number, claiming that there are more pro-choice Dems in Congress now. She stated that she is a Blue Dog and also made the claim that this group does not talk about social issues at its caucus. I'd like to know more about that.

8. I watch it because it is the first place in the morning
where you can find the crystalized nuggets of RW propaganda served as pab. It is the only remotely RW program I watch or listen to since FAUX is blocked on our teevee and I don't listen to the RW radio crazies. It is also where the one place where Dems show up to debate conservatives?.

10. Before my cable company cut off my free MSNBC
from my ultra-basic cable package, I used to like to watch Morning Schmoe. The rest of morning TV is pure fluff. Unless you really care what happens to Jon and Kate and the screaming brats.

3. I wish people wouldn't call them pro life
They're not pro life. They could give a shit what happens to a baby once it's brought into this world. Let's call them what they are, anti-choice.

6. I would go further and call them anti-privacy
since the constitutional right to privacy was the basis for Roe v. Wade.

11. I've always wondered why everyone dances around this issue with language
Pro-life and pro-choice are just euphemisms for whether you're for or against abortion.

We don't do this when it comes to capital punishment, the terms pro-death penalty, and anti-death penalty are fully accepted by the two sides to describe themselves, and each other.

15. Noooooo
"Pro choice" is NOT a "euphemism for whether you're for or against abortion." Lots of women out there who are pro-choice that would not, personally get an abortion but they don't try to restrict that right to others that want/need one. The "Pro-lifers" are not actually pro-life because 1)they're only in love with fetuses and suddenly seem to disappear once the baby comes and 2) they're almost always in support of the death penalty.

16. We're still talking about one issue
and we dance around it.

To show you that your logic is flawed, if a hundred and fifty years ago, my great-great-great grandfather said that he'd never own a slave, but would not restrict someone on a Southern plantation from owning one, wouldn't you describe him as "pro-slavery"? Of course you would.

Yes, there are a lot of religious fundies out there who think pregnancy and childbirth are jim-dandy 'punishments' from their deity for having sex, but there are some who truly believe that human dignity might possibly begin before the moment of birth.

Yes, the fundies only care about a fetus/child if they can sweep it into their religion, but there are some people who do have a serious view of human dignity who talk the talk, and walk the walk. I cite the Nobel Peace Prize winner Mother Teresa. While it is very true that few people emulate her example of shedding worldly possessions so that they can help the poorest people in an Indian slum, there are those who do other works that benefit the poor.

Like I said, we don't have this language dance when it comes to capital punishment, it seems telling that we do on the issue of abortion.

5. That's Untrue

I understand what she's trying to drum up by saying this, but that's simply incorrect. Oh, unless she's counting Republicans. I don't care about them. :D

7. The Congress is more conservative than their constituents or the
Country. Over the past decade, the RR have that litmus test for
GOP. Must be Pro Life. This has forced Blue Dogs to run as
Pro Life in red states. This creates an embalance with a much
more conservative congres than the country.

I hope Dems and Repub. do not forget. The Republicans started losing
ground when they scared the country to death with the case
in Fla--Terry Schiavo in Florida. Their numbers started falling
and never went up again. This started Independents leaving
Republicans.

13. She's even adopted the reich-wing terminology:
"pro-life." Didn't she take over Dornan's seat? At least we KNEW Dornan was batshit crazy but he did have a certain entertainment value during Special Sessions.

14. I assume she means anti-choice, since I don't know anyone who isn't pro-life
Except maybe for the death penalty zealots.
