One Person's View About Gay Marriage and Church Views
I found this on CNN Homepage a couple of minutes ago. It was in a comment thread about Carrie Prejean and thoughts about her. The first part is in reference to sex for procreation verses sex for fun. The last reference I think he made a mistake when he said uncritical but I did not change it.

" Or where sex, for reasons other than procreation, are condoned."
It's called the Song of Solomon. It's a whole book about the joys of married sex.

What is frustrating to me as a thinking Christian who believes in the authority of Scripture is that so many people who don't think make the name of Christ look bad. They rush to defend people immediately without thinking whether they are wolves in sheep's clothing (as this lady obviously is) and they worry about things that aren't even Scriptural priorities. Any believer who understands the scriptural teachings about the Kingdom of God or the theology of the City of God (which Augustine found in a thoughtful reading of Scripture) would never campaign publicly against gay marriage, or proclaim public morality, because this is not our mission. People on this thread think that Christians are idiots, and the way that they are reasoning, I can't blame them.
If you believe that homosexuals should not marry, you enforce it at the level of the church, NOT at the civic level. Our mission is to spread the gospel via God's ways, not via laws or public coersion. We shouldn't ever tell any unbeliever how they should live. The Scriptures make plain that the ONLY message we have to unbelievers is the good news of Christ, NEVER "you are living in sin and need to stop it."
I apologize on behalf of the church for the uncritical comments made by Christians on this thread.
