We CAN eradicate testicular
strangleholds on womens' healthcare decisions. Honest legislation would have done so decades ago. "Pro-life" legislation is less about saving babies and more about perpetuating one gender's control over the other.

Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance pay for erectile dysfunction remedies, including pills and penile implants, even in the absence of any suggestion of the condition being life-threatening. Where are the legislative barriers between men and their healthcare providers?

3. Many insurance policies DO pay for it.
Further, there are no legal barriers to your paying for it out of your own pocket.

7. For starters.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=6975788&mesg_id=6975788

And I could google other info, but I've emailed a couple of male friends who've availed themselves of the remedies via their private insurance asking them for their insurance info.

As to your 'barriers' question -- huh?

2. As I said in another thread, it's cock rings and vibrators for
impotent old men until women have full reproductive health coverage. I'm an old man, myself. I'm not impotent, but if I were, I'd either pay for the drugs myself or find a way of coping.

Having a boner is not a right. It's a biological function. Women's reproductive rights are not fully covered. Until they are, we should not be paying men to attain erections.

6. Thanks for the affirmation.
I'm so annoyed by people wanting their stupid stuff paid for by the government...when people are dying for lack of any health care at all.

Impotence is a minor problem that can be dealt with. If you need Viagra, buy it, or buy insurance that pays for it.

I get so tired of whining from people who have minor, quality of life medical problems. As long as people are dying from lack of medical care, I won't listen to it. As long as women are forced to carry pregnancies due to rape and incest to term, I don't want to hear about men's boners.

A little perspective would be a good thing, I think.

8. I spent the entire day working against my Congressman who voted for Stupak.
I am very upset about it and will not forgive and forget it. He is a 98% progressive voter, but that isn't good enough. I want him OUT and will continue to work for it.

BUT...

I am a man -and reading your thread ticks me off. Why do you want to make it a man vs. women thing? Where does that get you?

The two issues have nothing to do with each other.

Time for you to figure out how to work with allies instead of work on alienating half of them to satisfy your sense of justice or whatever.

11. You speak for me on this.
I dislike the sense implied by the OP that this is men vs. women.

This issue affects all of us. My mother, wife and daughter would agree.

12. I did this for my daughter and nieces (and the OP's as well.)
Some enjoy the sparks that fly when they post gender war porn.

Some people's identities are wrapped up in it.

15. I didn't make it "a man vs. women thing".
The female half of the population has been systematically alienated by an entrenched patriarchy since the founding of the country; it's getting better, but we're not equal yet. In a way, I merely recognized an historical 'pre-existing condition' and positioned my comments within it.

16. You started an OP drawing a line between ED drugs and abortion rights.
While I completely agree that the entrenched patriarchy system is essentially as you say, I don't think it serves any purpose on THIS board where you are surrounded by men who are more allies than friends, to alienate anyone that is already an ally.

17. I see your point. However,
we know that "we" aren't the only ones who read stuff on this site. It's like posting comments to my local newspaper: I often do so knowing full well that my comments aren't likely to change the opinions of the poster I'm responding to, but it's a way of getting information out to other readers.

10. Your subject line is provocative and somewhat deceiving, but I do agree with your general premise.
The reason your subject line is deceptive (and perhaps you intended that for effect), is that anyone who has/has-had or has lost someone dear (as I have) with testicular cancer cannot help clicking on to see that "We CAN eradicate testicular cancer." You need a noun for that modifier "testicular" in your subject line.

Know what I mean?
