1. Interesting questions.....Wonder what the President would say to that..
I think we need a much stronger Majority Leader in the Senate. We need a Lyndon Johnson-type. Does that exist anymore??

2. Because he is a republicon..
he and other so called Dems are popping up like jack in the box with their last minute bullshit that they have planned with the rest of the republicons. I expect more in the senate. A lot of these senators and congressmen are millionaires or billionaires and many of them don't relate to what the rest of the country is going through and if they do they don't give a damn they are protecting their own interests.

How rich is too rich? Stupak has been showing up on different shows for months now and didn't mention a word about this abortion bullshit. He has been hearing the teabaggers all along talking about it but, all of a sudden at the last minute he wants to pretend that is outraged about something that isn't there..These people are full of it...

6. Thanks for mentioning that
I've been predicting it for months. There are a number of treatments that are controversial in nature, and I expect them to come up for amendment floor fights, as well.

Not everything that can legally be done can be expected to be paid for by someone else.

If there were no Stupak amendment, the House bill would have been dead already. It was important to have one victory in the healthcare fight, because the House members who are for it want to be able to have the Senate to blame for it's eventual failure or watering down.

9. Obama wants someone to blame, too.

Lieberman can filibuster it and nobody can control him because he's an Independent, Lieberman can then be the scapegoat for Obama and the Dems.

10. Perhaps so
He's probably counting on the defeat of universal healthcare to be forgotten three years from now.

12. They didn't expect the amendment
to be so restrictive and punitive. I think a lot of people were caught off guard by the actual language of it.

In addition, the introduced at such a late time, they really put everyone over a barrel.
