Poll question: Should military hardware be manufactured by for-profit corps?
Does this not scream conflict of interest? Should we expect the for-profit war industry not to do "demand generation" for their products? I'm not trying to be judgmental of others' views, I'd really just like a kind of pulse on the issue.

3. The arms market
is one of the few that can be controlled by fiat. All the CIC has to do is say "stand down".

4. And nuclear weapons as well
I thought I had seen bloated, inefficient boondoggles when I worked for DoD contractors -- then I worked for a DOE contractor. :eyes:

The budget for war and 'defense' should be cut about 80% and the government should nationalize those industries and not use contractors at all.

6. i agree
the goverment has such a shining record of comming in under budget and on time and being the ones to come up with new and inventive ways to do a job properly that we should probably turn all our commercial intrests over to them to manage, that way we never haft to worry about making a profit or having advancments in any field of endevor. we can all simply sit back and let them produce anything and everything we might ever need to protect our rights as given by our for fathers.

uuummmm, then again maybe not

7. Hi - you do know the Manhattan Project was a government project, right?
For most of our history we have used private business to supply our arms. And I certainly agree that we're pretty good at making war, so they must do a fair job.

The research work gets done almost entirely on the government's dime. The pure research in all fields is either government subsidized (mostly done in colleges) or paid for by the government entirely.

I said nothing about "commercial" interests. I'm talking about war and defense. Our defense contractors build things for China, and Iran, also, is that a conflict of interest?
