Did Effective Liberal Leadership Die With Sen. Kennedy?
I miss his voice and his commitment to liberal values. I have a hard time finding anyone in positions of power with similar convictions.

1. There are still some strong progressives in the Senate...
What's missing is the experience and the gravitas of the Kennedy name more so than the ideology.

We have Franken and Sanders, among others. I don't think Sanders would like to be called a liberal though.

2. It sure has hurt us....
I have been watching Senator Sherrod Brown...he has been on Ed Schultz several times of late....He could maybe fill the void.

3. EMK was a pragmatic liberal he would have been strongly for the house
bill that passed on Saturday night even though it isn't perfect. He wouldn't have been like DK and vote against it because it isn't the single payer or something like that. That said his leadership in the senate to get the bill passed will be sorely missed.

4. I think he would have provided stronger leadership and got
more votes on board before the shitty concessions.

7. Senator Kennedy did not have the luxury of having a Democratic president,
and having simultaneous democratic majorities in the senate and congress when Kennedy was attempting to do this. These are major disadvantages that Kennedy had to deal with.
