Regarding the Ft. Hood shooting and Muslim people,
Assuming that being a Muslim is akin to being al-qaeda (sp?) is like assuming that being Christian is akin to being KKK.
Let's do our best to stick with apples to apples comparisons. Terrorist organizations are NOT religious organizations, although there are many many extremists who will use religon to justify their hatred of people who are different. This appeals to frightened, ignorant people. I know many many people of faith who do not share the beliefs of those extremist who would call themselves "soldiers of whatever God's name is". It's frightening to see the blanket statements about a particular faith by so many normally intelligent people.
Thanks for listening.
Peace.

1. We should still remember that the KKK were Christian and Al-qaeda members were muslim...
These organizations are relgious organizations, their members religious, but they are not the religion.

2. And the Spanish Inquisition
And the Puritan witch burners. And the Crusaders. History is full of terrorists spun out of religious organizations. All it takes is just a little more piety and confidence that you are doing the Deity's work for him.

3. It is not confidence, it is faith. These people have faith that they are doing God's work.
Faith requires belief without proof. That isn't confidence. Religious folk who do not become terrorists have faith also. It is that faith in the existence of their God they have in common. They are members of the religion and terrorism or someone like Mother Theresa are equally expressions of religion.
