It will make the House bill look like Single Payer for All.

This was supposed to be our Victory Day where the Democratic Base rejoices in triumph.

Deep, deep sigh.

3. Harry will have to find 3 or 4 Republican votes....
And those will NOT come cheap. I'm guessing just about all the mandates for pre-existing coverage will become suggestions or appeal boards before all is said and done.

And that's for starters.

19. I think all we will get is unregulated pre-existing coverage
and mandates. That will be the bill. People with pre-existing conditions will be forced to buy unregulated insurance at prices they can't afford and if they don't they will have to pay a fine to the government. Government wins, insurance companies win, we lose. Why should this issue be any different than any others.

4. I though we had voted in a strong democratic majority that would actively
work for the best possible. I'm starting to wonder what we voted in... I'm really getting a bit saddened with all of it...

6. See that's the whole point.
We already KNEW the Senate Bill was going to suck ass the day it was announced that it would be "negotiated" by the insurance whore from Montana, the husband of the insurance whore from Connecticut, and the spineless turd from Nevada.

The House bill was supposed to be the GOOD one with a REAL public option. Now it also sucks corporate cock.

You cannot combine a pile of shit with another pile of shit and get a hot fudge sundae.

11. Greed prompted the Saturday session.
That's what I believe the recent outcry was all about.

Then they call for a Saturday session. House Speaker Pelosi needed to get back to work to finish the bill, and after drawing a line in the sand, the stick was set aside so they may sign the bill.

7. Still see no reason, not to let them filibuster.
Edited on Sun Nov-08-09 08:27 PM by Cleita
In the end it still will be a majority vote without the Blue Dogs and Olympia Snowe and a good bill could be passed. They don't want to upset their campaign donors, the industry that created this phony health care scheme to begin with. That's what is really going on.

13. yeah, and those who think this bill
will eventually lead to a strong public option or single payer, I'd think again. Once you give more power to the health insurance cartel, it will be even harder to get a true public option. To think, that the government is even going to provide some bailout for the for-profit insurance industry. I mean wall street and the health industry must really need our money. What I don't think your going to get is reasonable health care without government subsidies. Remember those subsidies go to the "gotta make a profit" health insurance industry. What a windfall!!!!

17. Ultimately
this about privatizing the health-care sector. That's where all of this is headed.

All other talk is mere shadow-boxing in the narrow bubble of congressional politics.
