I don't see anyone buying supplemental insurance just in the rare case they may have to make a choice. Would anyone here or know anyone who would buy it? I don't even know how much that would cost.

3. All insurance is bought "just in case."

Nobody knows if they'll need what they buy.

4. So you pay, I guess $20 a month
And you pay that for 20 years. That's a lot of money. $4800?

5. Well, I've been paying for
Edited on Sun Nov-08-09 08:20 PM by Ineeda
flood insurance, wind insurance, homeowners insurance to the tune of about $1500 a year for 25 years. So that's $37,500. Never had a claim (thankfully) but, although I don't like paying for it, I'm glad I have it, just in case. How many people pay for auto insurance and never file a claim? Keep in mind that I hate this whole misogynistic, repressive crap of abortion restrictions, but the cost is a false analogy. It's just plain wrong. (I'd put 'abortion insurance money' in a savings account or under the mattress, rather than give it to an insurance company. If you never need it, you can take a nice vacation or something.)

6. I would imagine the uninsured would pay out of pocket
I think the going rate is in the neighborhood of $500-$600 dollars per procedure.

8. I paid for mine
Had to borrow the money but I paid it back. It cost me about $300, 28 years ago.
