US attorney general: Gitmo reviews under way
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

DOHA, Qatar -- U.S. officials are reviewing which Guantanamo Bay detainees could face trial in American courts and the first indications could come next week, the U.S. attorney general said Sunday.

Eric Holder told reporters that some decisions could be announced as early as Nov. 16, but he declined to give details or say whether it could include some of the detainees accused in the September 11 attacks.

The Senate last week backed a plan - supported by Holder and Defense Secretary Robert Gates - to have the option of prosecuting September 11 terrorists, such as accused mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, in either federal courts or by a military commission.

3. "Which Guantanamo Bay detainees"
How about all of them? Either try them in a real court or find a way and a place to set them free!

What the fuck is this picking and choosing who gets to set foot in a court. That is so fucking anti-American and anti-democratic that it makes my eyes hurt just reading it.

When is this administration finally going to support the real rule of law, not sometimes, or partially, or serves a policy objective, but all the time 100% just because it is the rule of law?

All they are doing is making it obvious that the law is a flexible thing that treats you differently depending on who you are. Unequal justice, unequal access to the courts, with different rules and different laws for certain people. This is what the Obama administration is supporting.

If they support this patch-work approach to law then they are validating all the times in our history that our laws were used against any group of people, with special rules and special restrictions and special 'treatment,' because they weren't really considered deserving of the full protection of the law. For the first African-American President of the U.S., you would think that would be an abominable thing to validate and support.
