However, my vegan daughter says that sometimes when she's traveling she gets a McDonald's "burger" with lettuce and tomato -- and no meat. IOW, she gets them to make her a lettuce and tomato sandwich on a bun, puts Veganaise on it. So there's an alternative, and it can be done at all the fast food places, though more and more have vegetarian alternatives now.
