Lieberman Pledges To Filibuster House Bill: The Public Option Is ‘Unnecessary’
http://thinkprogress.org/2009/11/08/lieberman-filibuster-public/

<snip>

This morning on Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace asked Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-CT) about the House’s historic passage of health care legislation last night. Lieberman said that as a “matter of conscience,” he will join a Republican filibuster if a public option — which has supposedly been put forward “by people who really want the government to take over all of health insurance” — is also included in the bill that goes before the Senate:

LIEBERMAN: A public option plan is unnecessary. It has been put forward, I’m convinced, by people who really want the government to take over all of health insurance. They’ve got a right to do that; I think that would be wrong.

But worse than that, we have a problem even greater than the health insurance problems, and that is a debt — $12 trillion today, projected to be $21 trillion in 10 years.

WALLACE: So at this point, I take it, you’re a “no” vote in the Senate?

LIEBERMAN: If the public option plan is in there, as a matter of conscience, I will not allow this bill to come to a final vote because I believe debt can break America and send us into a recession that’s worse than the one we’re fighting our way out of today. I don’t want to do that to our children and grandchildren.

</snip>

Video at link. I watched it on my TeeVee. Not for those with anger management issues. Going for a walk now to calm down.

Thanks, Joe. Thanks for NOTHING.

And he is useless to Democrats. I don't understand why he is not dumped once and for all. Let's face it. We don't have a 60 vote majority in the Senate.

8. Lieberman is chair of the Senate Homeland Security Committee.
That's another thing he said that totally pissed me off:

Sen. Joe Lieberman called the Fort Hood massacre an act of "Islamist extremism" - even as top Army brass warned Sunday against guessing at a motive, fearing backlash against Muslim soldiers.

"There are very, very strong warning signs here that Dr. Hasan had become an Islamist extremist and, therefore, that this was a terrorist act," Lieberman (I-Conn) told Fox News on Sunday.

"If the reports that we're receiving of various statements he made, acts he took are valid, he had turned to Islamist extremism."

7. Wow Lieberman doesn't want a public option
because our grandchildren will die from debt? Not lack of affordable health care? And this "public option" is a watered down meaningless joke but Holy Joe is going to crusade against THAT?

What fucking planet is this?

Oh yeah, the one where Obama is a socialist. :beer:

9. So debt's only worth it for illegal wars and Halliburton/Cheney coffers
This SOB is the worst of the worst of the snakes. Let him caucus with the Rethugs where he belongs. I still remember that chitty grin on his face in 2000 when he wasn't supporting Gore in the recount. They bought him before then.

Rot in Hell with you buddy Cheney, Low Joe.

11. I just wrote to Reid
Edited on Sun Nov-08-09 03:55 PM by 47of74
I'm not a resident of Nevada so I doubt this will get very far, but since he is the majority leader I wrote to him in that capacity;

I learned that Senator Liebermann ("I"-Insurance Industry) intends to filibuster the health care bill. He gives excuses about how it would affect his children and grandchildren, but we all know that it's because he's got his 30 pieces of silver from the insurance industry.

I demand that this Senator be stripped of his committee chairmanships immediately. This Senator has no shame and does not represent the people of Connecticut or the people of this country. Senator Liebermann is only for the wealthy special interests who have a vested interest in seeing things remain exactly as they are.

Why don't you try standing up for the American people for once in your career instead of bending over backwards to everyone who stands against the American people?

Edited on Sun Nov-08-09 05:29 PM by Ironman3476
I realize he is representing those who elected him.
If memory serves me correctly, the Dems kicked him to the curb in the primary.
The Repugs elected him, but he decided to caucus with the party in power, whoever they are, it makes no difference to him.
After further review, he really is a piece of shit, two-faced whore, that is - republican.
