Dennis Kucinich Continues to Shame Democratic Leadership by Telling the Other Side of the Story
I salute this man for his principled stands on issues impacting ordinary Americans and the indefatigable courage of his convictions in the face of a juggernaut of special interests and the everlasting shame of their beneficiaries on capital hill.

I am so thankful to have at least 1 voice in office who consistently represents my views. He always broadens the debate and gives me hope, and even though he doesn't represent me directly I always contribute to his campaigns to keep that voice in the wilderness alive.

Thank you, Dennis Kucinich :toast:

10. "the only"? First, that's factually incorrect. Second, he accomplishes nothing. As a politician

he is useless unless all you want from a pol is someone who says what you want to hear.

12. Yeah this myth perpetuated here that he's the ONLY one with principles
is always tiresome. Especially so after a massive grandstanding moment.

16. Oh, he accomplishes plenty.....

His presence (and a handful like him) in an otherwise reactionary party gives hope to those of the left who cannot conceive of politics outside of the two party system, he keeps them hanging on. Without those eternally hopeful lefties the Democratic Party would be in deep shit, they aren't a majority but their absence would lose elections.

Not to say that I think he's a bad guy, he's a very good guy, by Democratic standards, I strongly supported him in '04. He believes what he's doing, but I no longer do, the party will not move left in any significant manner. That is the lesson of '08, which we are learning to our sorrow.

17. the purpose of a politician is to enact laws not to "give hope". He's useless if he can't enact
laws.

19. Yes, this past election was all about legitimizing and cementing conservatism
as the new foundation of the party once and for all. The liberals and "lefties" pre-reagan are now marginalized in favor of the new progressive aka neo-liberal.
Dennis, however principled and correct in his assessments plays a critical role. He keeps the sham of hope alive for those of us who remember what democrats used to stand for and he's the favorite whipping boy of the new progressives who claim center right is now the true left.

Dennis stands for everything the party used to be about when I was growing up. And he is marginalized and derided constantly because of it. Sends an important message to those of us old lefties, fuck off.

3. Good going Kucinich
For the overall bill, almost every Republican and 39 Democrats voted against it. They were mostly from swing districts in red states. The only "liberal" to vote against -- Dennis Kucinich, who was upset that am amendment that would give states the right to opt for a single-payer system, was not allowed to come up for a vote.

6. i think you read that wrong
it is the folks who perpetuate the status quo (profit-over-people) that are shameful, especially on this issue.

do you know that it is a crime to profit on the illness of others in some countries?

and as a Christian nation, I know most would support that notion.

:hi:
