How does one find the best doctor in the country to get a second opinion?
I wrote about my uncle in another thread. He has lost a lot of weight and just got our of intensive care because of breathing problems.

They diagnosed him with Lou Gehrig's disease, late stage, no initial early stage problems except the weight gain. The hallucinations and the seizures and all that other stuff that has NOTHING to do with ALS was just ignored. (I read a lot about ALS and the first symptoms are twitching, loss of balance, cramping of arms and legs etc. The late stages are problems with the diagrams. He is not on a ventilator.

I wrote in the other thread that during the round about visits he was diagnosed bipolar which I have and my grandmother had, (although no one wants to believe it, they swear she had paranoid schizophrenia)

Well fuck all that. Where do you find an expert?

1. Are You Near a Teaching Hospital
I have a number of physicians in my family and they will recommend a teaching hospital, if possible, for more difficult illnesses.

2. Best place

At a not-for-profit or non-profit medical center attached to a university(medical school). Not sure where you live, but that is the first place that I would start.
Good luck.
