Is it perfect? Is it perfect? Is it perfect?
Gosh this is an irritating question. Why is it that anytime someone is defending this bill, they feel compelled to ask that question? Do they really think that people who opposed this bill would have accepted nothing short of perfection? Do they simply dichotomize the world into "perfect" and "imperfect" and make no finer distinctions? Do they think they're appearing non-partisan by acknowledging imperfections in the bill?

1. perfect? It's not even mediocre
It's garbage. It is the insurance industry profit protection bill. It has nothing to do with 'reform'.

12. 220-215 vote with a 75-seat majority? It's also dead in the water. Quite a mandate.

4. Is it adequate to the need?
No, not even remotely close in your wildest imagination.

Are the going to change it in "baby steps" as is often said on site? No. The insurance companies have what they want so don't "hope for a change" incremental or otherwise because it ain't gonna happen. There will be no changes made.

Will congress do the right thing and start over from scratch? Not a chance.

5. Yeah, the "baby steps" comment is another equally misguided statement

I would hardly call it misguided.

7. I Guess Those Who Want Perfect...
Prefer nothing be done...any attempt at reform to fail and the status quo to go on. No skin off my nose...I can afford to self insure, but I once couldn't and know way too many who have no coverage or a regressive group plan that dictates who can treat them and how they are treated. The insurance companies thank you for your "purity".

8. I haven't even given my position on this current legislation. I just find the "Is it perfect"
tiresome at best.

10. Amen
I've been getting flamed pretty good here the past couple days...so be it. Maybe this will get some off their butts to work to elect more Progressives next year so a more "perfect" bill can be ammended to what's a start, not the do-all, end-all to a very important and complicated issue.

Cheers...
