Do people understand this bill would have failed if voted on final passage?
Because of the Stupak amendment... The conservative block that passed it voted for the final hr 3962 bill primarily because of the amendment. The block that voted for 3962 that were strongly against the Stupak amendment did so under assurances that it would get stripped out of the final bill and have stated so publicly in defense of abortion rights activists casting a keen eye on that provision. If it only passed by 3 votes, that advantage slips away no matter how the Stupak amendment is handled in the final bill.

3. The Senate Bill will be only worse and weaker.... reconciliation
Between the two houses will be a watered down, corporate process fast food made for the public with little nutritional value. Its a start, that's all I can say. This isn't like when social security passed under Roosevelt which was
revolutionary, but maybe it can be a start to real reform.
