3. They should be happy instead of pissed. The health insurance industry succeeded.
They managed to wear down the US House into passing a pathetic excuse of a Public Option that will only cover those who are unemployed and those who are employed with employers who provide no health insurance. Everybody else who works for an employer who has a contract with a private health insurer is essentially stuck in the private sector. They will not be allowed to transfer over into the Public Option. The Senate's version is even worse. They actually have an opt-out provision allowing entire states to leave the program.
5. Health insurance industry wins, we lose, and DU is cheering?
:wtf: is that about?
I think many employers will tell their employees "Hey, we can't afford to give you insurance any longer, and now there's this 'public option' so. . ." I also see insurance premiums rising significantly. Our only hope is if the Senate does not pass this crappy bill.
8. Perverse as it may be, the only way the Public Option wins is if employers dump all their plans.
Of course, I seriously doubt the health insurance lobby overlooked anything in the bill that would encourage employers to dump their health insurance plans en masse into the Public Option. That would destroy private health insurance in America. I don't believe they are stupid enough to overlook such a thing.
