I am as opposed to false reform as anyone. But this notion that we'll see people who don't buy insurance going to jail ....... where does that come from? That seems over the top to even a clown like me.

14. The Source for the article is Republican Dave Camp, who also claimed stimulus money going to ACORN

I do not trust Republicans to honestly analyze HCR, especially ones who have a history of mischaracterizing other legislation.

This crowd thrives on half-truths, hyperbole and bullshit.

2. Oh it won't be because you didn't buy insurance it'll be because you didn't pay the fine
Edited on Sat Nov-07-09 11:01 PM by kenny blankenship
and that has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE INSURANCE that you didn't have the money for. Nothing at all.
Don't worry so much! Every one will get probation. The first time, anyway. You'll just have to report to a parole officer every 30 days, and piss in a jar for year. Or five.

5. As you probably know, there will be subsidies for people that can't afford insurance
And as you probably know, Republicans love to tell half truths and exaggerate to scare people.

8. As you well know what the government seems to think is an income level that should
afford does not tend to lie with the reality of what the income level actually affords. So as is the case now, most people who can't afford it won't qualify for subsidies.

10. Oh, Dave Camp (R) claimed stimulus would funnel money to ACORN
http://mediamatters.org/print/research/200902210007

So this is the quality of person you are putting so much faith in to accurately analyze the HCR bill

7. here
'Initially, the Senate version would have had families above 300 percent of the federal poverty level pay $3,800 a year if they did not have health insurance. Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., later agreed to lower that amount by half, to $1,900. Backers hope that no American actually pays the tax; they want to see people spending those dollars on health insurance instead.

Still, Ensign is among those who balk at the idea. "Some people hold the Constitution pretty high in their lives, and if they believe that this thing is unconstitutional and they then say ... 'I choose not to have health insurance. I'm not going to buy it,'" Ensign said at a markup of the contentious bill. "We could be subjecting those very people ... to fines or the interpretation of a judge potentially all the way up even to imprisonment."'

you are punished with a 1900 dollar tax if you fail to buy health insurance. if you dont pay the tax, you can go to jail and be fined.
