Va. Tech Shooter's Sister Works With State Department
Princeton Graduate Once Interned at U.S. Embassy in Bangkok
US Headlines

By KIRIT RADIA and ARIANE DEVOGUE

April 17, 2007 — The sister of Seung-hui Cho, the man accused of carrying out the worst day of violence on a college campus in U.S. history, works out of the State Department as a contractor, government officials told ABC News.

Sun-Kyung Cho, the shooter's older sister, is listed in the State Department directory as a personnel assistant at the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, but sources say she reports to McNeil Technologies, which is one of the many administrative/managerial support contractors used for Iraq reconstruction management projects.

Ms. Cho graduated from Princeton University in 2004 with an undergraduate degree in economics. This evening, Princeton is planning a candlelight vigil in remembrance of those who lost their lives at Virginia Tech Monday.

In an interview with the Princeton Weekly Bulletin, Cho

9. probably find them in mine, too
and I hope you don't hold them against me. Is she responsible for her brother?

For that matter, how do you know what her politics are? I bet a large percentage of people living in the Beltway work for the government, either directly or indirectly. It's a great big company town.

8. exactly. there is no excuse for targetting his family.
his parents are hospitalized. his sister is no doubt devastated.

What use would it be for them to "speak out" as some people demand, as if they could explain or apologize for what was not their fault.

And his sister is not necessarily a "loyal bushie," just because she works at the state department.

I'm with you, brer cat. Leave the family alone.

But I have a real strong feeling that if someone in his immediate family had any ties or connections that could be construed as "liberal," we'd be hearing all over hate-radio and Fox about it.

I think some have already started saying this whole thing was caused by not having enough religion forced on kids in schools.

I felt the same way about the Columbine shooting. I don't remember seeing much of anything about the shooters' parents, so I'm assuming they were G-d fearing Republicans with traditional marriages.

If you don't believe me, look at Susan Smith. Gingrich started up the phony Republican 'family values" spin after she murdered her children, but when it turned out she had an abusive stepfather w/ties to Republicans, that whole blame her family thing shut down immediately.

13. Ive been listening to Mike Savage so i have to ask... is she a member of Al Quita too..??
dumb ass savage is brainwashing people that the government is covering up that Cho was a Sleeper Cell agent of Ossama been forgotten, the chains prove it cause that is what they do.. premeditation is proof he wasn't insane..reguardless of that the warm and fuzzy, kissy feeley California social worker types want us to believe..However Insane people can be very methodical, cunning and precise.. my boss and half the people i work with prove that every day..

i was only making an absurd analogy.. i am very sorry for her loss and i know she and her family have suffered for years, decades from his unfortunate condition, it is apparent he may have been schizophrenic because of the 'invisible' girlfriend.. which is a Halucination... i am disgusted at the spinn and twisting of this tragedy in a disgusting and deplorable thinly veiled attempt to distract from the slaughter and Holocaust we are perpetrating in Iraq.

14. Cho was a legal resident, but he couldn't vote could he?
I thought (with a few exceptions in a few cities) you have to be a citizen to vote. Unless she became a citizen then she couldn't have voted for dumbya.

My heart goes out to his family.

16. I must admit, I am curious about his family. I can't imagine what they must be going through as well
Can you imagine their position? No matter what he is to the rest of the world, this is their baby, the one they held as an infant, watched grow up, saw his first steps, heard his first word. To know that the child you love killed over 30 people in a massacre... I can't even find the words. Grief, agony, questioning everything you have ever done as a parent.

And now, they are leapers to the rest of the world. Their name is forever linked to this.

I saw a documentary on Adolph Hitler's surviving relatives. Some are still in Europe, some are in the United States. Life as been hard on them. They change their name, but somehow, it still gets found out.

I'm not saying that this individual and Hitler are comparable, but the situation that the family is in- forever marked no matter where they go- has some similar characteristics.

Anyway, this is just a tragedy.

20. Good of you , but read his plays first.
The references to family rape are disturbing and possibly a clue. I am not saying that they are guilty of anything as I do not know, and most likely will never know, if they are autobiographical.

23. But Cho was obviously mentally ill
I have a seriously deranged family member who has accused me of working for the CIA, and putting plutonium in his toothpaste. I'd take anything Cho wrote with an entire box of salt, unless someone comes up with a witness to his claims.

28. I have read the one on The Smoking Gun, the one title McBeef.
When I was in my MA writing program, I wrote a lot of things that weren't autobiographical. I hope people didn't read some of my submissions and think I was recalling events from my life.
