James Woods Sues Hospital in Brother's Death
James Woods Sues Hospital in Brother's Death

WARWICK, R.I. (AP) -- Actor James Woods has sued a Rhode Island hospital over the 2006 death of his younger brother.

Woods on Friday declined to discuss the lawsuit in detail, but told The Associated Press he wants "justice" for his brother, Michael, who was 49 when he died at Kent Hospital in Warwick of an apparent heart attack.

The two-time Oscar-nominated actor claims his brother received negligent medical care.

A jury was selected Friday, and opening statements are scheduled for Monday in Kent County Superior Court.

Woods grew up in Warwick and received Oscar nominations for his performances in "Ghosts of Mississippi" and "Salvador." His other credits include "Nixon," "Casino" and the CBS legal drama "Shark."

1. I thought right wingers were all for tort reform in the medical field?
I guess this is just another example of a right winger being rabidly against something right up to the point that they themselves are victims. Then, it is a whole new ballgame.

2. And yet Mr. Woods supports a party that would limit or take away his right to do this
Maybe he needs to think about that.

recourse.

Remember Santorum's wife suing for her bad back and getting almost 1/2 million dollars - a QUESTIONABLE situation, since she has shown no problems since - and that asshat now wants to limit damages to under 250k?

5. I wonder how much of a stretch it was
for Woods to portray disgraced McCarthy hearings lawyer Roy Cohn? He was a RW hypocrite too.

6. I remember Michael Woods from some soaps I watched many years ago.
He was the better looking brother.
