Well , Rep. King has found something 'adult' to do:
Edited on Sat Nov-07-09 03:41 PM by Are_grits_groceries
Rep. King contemplates wrapping Capitol building with health care bill. Ten minutes after Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-M.D.) took to the House floor to relay the tale of a young boy who died because a tooth infection went untreated and spread to his brain, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) was trying to literally wrap the Capitol building with the legislation.

The House, on Saturday, began what should be a lengthy process of debating and voting on the final language of reform. But not everyone was willing to simply sit through the event. Outside, King and others were leading a mob of angry tea-party protesters in a round of bizarre and disruptive shenanigans.

About 20 feet off the House floor, at the entrance to the lawn in front of the Capitol building, King and two colleagues were wielding a massive copy of the 1,900-page bill, rolled up around a wooden poll. A man accompanying a clearly excited King, suggested that they wrap the legislation around the building.

"Let's do it," he proclaimed. "Let's wrap the building."

A security guard, looking on disapprovingly, patiently urged them not to try. "You can't do that sir," he said. "You can't do that."

In the background, the tea party protesters who had gathered for a second day of railing against health care's passage were dispersing. Sensing a lost opportunity, King turned to go back outside, asking his co-conspirator to grab the rolled up bill.

A Hill aide tells the Huffington Post that he and others have been plotting to tape pieces of the the Capitol building for several days.

Maroons! If they spent half the time trying to come up with some sensible bills or amendments that they do acting like 3 year olds, they could have a reasonable plan too.

9. "Chicago Thugs?" - Did they know what city they were in? Maybe they thought
the Americans for Prosperity bus took a wrong turn or something.

11. No.
Apparently they think anybody who gets in their way is in an Obama cult. They were addressing the DC police or the Capitol Police.

They are getting crazier.

13. I believe "Chicago Thugs" applies largely to black people.
After, it's the imagined loss of "white control" that these people are really protesting.

I got home yesterday afternoon. My brother stayed with me last night. I don't think it affected me because the Rethugs still sound like loons. Thanks for asking.

7. If you want to do a sit in with a twist. Have protesters read the bill outside
the Republican congressmen's offices through a mike and speakers. From what I am hearing in the debate today, I don't think any of them have read it.

16. What I find most disturbing about this story is yet another reminder that "dental health" is somehow
separate and ignored from "health" as far as coverage/insurance is concerned - as if our teeth are viewed as being mysteriously separate from the rest of one's physical body. Dental diseases and conditions can be fatal.

Why we have no accessible preventative dental program is beyond me. It's far easier to prevent than to cure - certainly with dental issues this is the case. Eye health is often ignored too. Funny, I always thought we were born with our eyes and our teeth develop naturally. I don't recall there being a choice in the matter.

Eyes and teeth are no different than one's hip, skin, spine, lymph nodes, fingernails or spinal cord. They're not something we can opt out of, they are part of our physical selves. And as such they can acquire diseases, conditions and problems, many of which affect our other systems, some of which lead to far more serious problems, including fatal ones.

It's as if having eyes and teeth is something we "choose" to have or purchase for ourselves at some point and therefore don't matter - or seemingly implicated by many insurers as "not their problem" and simply won't recognize them... "Your eyes and teeth? Heck man, that's YOUR responsibility - you're on your own. We only deal with medical coverage." Wait. What?

Seems crazy to me...
