Edited on Sat Nov-07-09 12:40 PM by JanMichael
Yes they would hate her, no shit they already did/do, but would they travel to DC or parade around with guns like they have with Obama? Would they be SO nutty and open about their insanity like they have been recently?

I really don't think so.

Yes you probably have guessed why I think this...Hillary may be hated by the right, detested, vilified, but "at least"...she's white. And we know how a lot of T-baggers may not come right out and say they're bona-fide racists, at least not publicly, but so many of the signs have indicated some pretty ugly stereotypical attitudes.

Obviously we have no way to really know this - it's just a feeling.

EDIT: Try a white male. Do you think they'd be like this with Edwards or Biden or <insert generic white "liberal" male>

27. Tell you one thing
There is no way in hell she would put up with the republicans acting up like this...she would kick butt and take names. Obama acts too much gentlemanfied. He has got to learn to come out swinging.

HRC is a hard-headed Midwesterner and not as laid-back as Obama. For whatever reason, Obama feels obliged to make at least some accommodation to the RW lunatic fringe. HRC would not. Also, they have already been calling her every name in the book for the past two decades. Obama should have given her the job of developing an plan and a strategy for the White for dealing with health care reform. I would have loved to see her get another crack at this.

2. Yes, they'd be there
And their signs would be sexist - depicting Hillary as a witch and the like. Rhymes with witch. All their "cleverness" would just be directed that way.

Some of them would be certain Bill was really running things - the references to Bill's third term would abound.

I wonder if DU would be just as hard on her, too. Obama has been criticized for using Clinton people in his cabinet, etc., presume Hillary would have done even more of that.

Obama would have been a really great Sec. of State - he'd still have won the Nobel!

Still crazy but not quite as vocal.

or people claiming that she was going to institute white slavery.

However, we'd get to listen to how she killed Vince Foster with her bare hands for eight years.

7. Yes, and the signs would be sexist instead of racist
These people have only one thing in their horrible lives: hate. They're too damn dumb to be able to figure out who's been screwing them for the last 30 years and will obligingly hate anybody they're given permission to hate.

I would far rather see them than be them, but that's what they are. The hate would be the same intensity. Only the insults would be different.

15. Whoops, didn't see your reply before adding my own below.
But I'd add to your comment about their hate that it is being manipulated by professional, amoral, right wing PR firms who would be stirring them up against whatever Democrat won the presidency.

9. Probably...
I don't think it'd be at the level, but they'd be out there.

They were there during the Clinton years, too. We just didn't see it because a bulk of the Clinton presidency took place before the internet really was a common thing. Now it's easy to pull a rally off. You just create a page, send out a ton of e-mails and there you go.

They would still be out but instead at a level 10 crazy it'd be a level 7 or 8 or maybe 9 but not 10. Still batshit crazy but without the added boost of ethnic hatred.

you are either blind, dumb, ignorant or just plain lying..You know damn well it would never be this excessive.

What in the hell does it take for some people to admit when something really is racism and hate.

I notice that whenever a subject comes up on DU and it has something to do with racism some do their damndest to tell everyone don't believe your lying eyes..

Of course, I'm guessing this dork is swining an empty sack and his idea of freedom is being able to litter without getting a ticket.

18. They would have sexist signs
instead of racist signs. It's all about White Christian Male Supremacy. That Foxx woman said it clearly, Judeo-Christian and capitalism = freedom. That's what they're "afraid" of losing. It's clear what that means. They don't want their tax dollars going to support women and minorities, ie, the Democratic Party.

19. I think so. A woman in power is very threatening for some.
Many people, including many women, believe men should be in power.

My sister-in-law is married to man who is kind*, but not exactly intelligent or wise. They are both LDS, so they both believe the man should run the household. She becomes angry at some of his household decisions, but she won't say anything to him, she vents to her other family members, such as my wife, instead. So even though everyone seems to believe she could do a better job running the house, she refuses because she is a woman and she "knows" her place. He is a really nice guy*, but he does not have the skills required to run a house.

* I think they are bigoted against gay people, but they swear they are not when I call them out.

21. I don't think it would be as intense. The bigger question might be, would we be farther along in
achieving the goal of health care reform? Would it have been presented better? Would the message have been more clear? Would the opposition have been given so much time to organize? Would it have been done by now?

Might not be the most popular thing to ponder here, but, sometimes, ponder it I do...

30. With Hillary: perhaps
There would be a lot of crude sexist jabs - a LOT of "ugly bitch" type comments.

With a white male, the socialist claims would be there, but the vitrol at the "otherness" of HRC and Obama would be absent.

I think it's hard to judge who makes them more riled up - women in power or a black man in power. A woman, especially Hillary - would have them every bit as crazy. Hillary would likely have them rabid.
