9. I shop at trader joes and a local market
Both places pay their people well and offer better benefits than I get in IT!

I'm just taking a break to surf the net. But I wish them the best!

2. I saw that...
I won't cross the picket line -- I'm NEA but wouldn't cross even if I didn't belong. I rarely shop at Safeway or Fry's so my lack of meager purchases won't hurt. Unfortunately where I live the strike will probably have minimal impact. SE Mesa is neoLibertarian country.

It's sad that the middle class doesn't appreciate what unions have done for them historically. There wouldn't be a middle class without unions.

3. Do you mind if I ask what store you shop?
You know Bashas and Food City are scab outfits right?

4. Sprout's and Fresh & Easy mostly
I also hit the Superstition Ranch Market for vegetables and fruit if I drive home that way. And Trader Joe's. It's just me and the critters.

5. Thank you.
I have to look into which store I'm going to use when they're out, if they go out. Circle K won't cut it if you know what I mean.

6. I just wish Trader Joe's were closer.
But it's worth the detour. One thing I've discovered is that I can buy beer/ale/porter by the bottle instead of a whole 6-pack. That way I can try it and if I don't like that kind I'm not stuck with the rest.

Try their popped potato chips. They are awesome!

8. Those in AZ
stock up now before the strike, and support these workers. I was just thinking yesterday about how the American people need to start standing up for each other. Think of how things might have been different if we'd refused to buy the cheap Chinese junk when it first started appearing, or boycotted the companies that were offshoring our jobs.

12. Sadly with so many out of work here in AZ
those stores won't have any trouble finding scab workers.

15. krogers and safeway are hiring scabs here as well. so, being the gentle, quiet, retiring soul that
I am, every time they do the hiring stint, I stand by the door, and whenever they are having someone fill out an app, I announce loudly, "ah hiring the scabs, are we?" the mgr doing the hiring really gets annoyed with me, for some reason.

I call each of the offices weekly to remind them that, if the workers do go on strike, I will be honouring the picket lines--have, thankfully, a number of options (my favourite threat was whole foods, until the idiot ceo pissed me off a couple of months ago) I will stand with the workers, have already promised them tea and cocoa (especially since it looks now like mgmt is trying to hold off until after the holidays (big surprise).

not a member of any union, as I am self-employed, but will never cross a picket line.

16. Safeway advertised for scabs in this morning's Repulsive.
Guess they didn't want Fry's to get all the good one. :sarcasm:

I want to make some signs to shame those who cross the picket lines:

Ingrate: Don't you know what unions have done for you?

Without unions, there wouldn't be a middle class.

Non-union? Who will have your back when you get laid off?

Any other ideas?
