of KC, Wichita, Topeka and the like would tend to be more Left than right.

KC proper is in MO and it is solidly blue. There is a KC, KS and it is solidly blue; however it only comprises maybe 1/4 of the suburban population of KC that resides in KS. That other 3/4 is light blue, maybe even purple at best, despite electing a Democratic congressman for almost a decade. Topeka is more red than blue. Wichita is solidly red and will be a safe wingnut haven for many years to come.
