Where has Texas Senator Cornyn been?
Edited on Sat Nov-07-09 05:06 AM by Are_grits_groceries
I haven't seen him making any comments about the shooting. Senator Hutchinson has, but I think she has acted appropriately. She hasn't beaten any ideological drums or made unnecessary remarks. I may be mistaken about that, but what I've seen of her has been okay.

I am not a fan of KBH. Her actions, however, have been in marked contrast to a lot of the other loons from her party being shown on the news these days.

I am just wondering about Cornyn. Maybe he can't talk about anything unless he can speak in partisan terms.

Has anybody seen him?

1. Sen. Cornyn: Don't jump to conclusions over Fort Hood shootings
November 6, 2009

(CNN) -- Before making judgments about the shootings at Fort Hood, a thorough investigation needs to take place, Sen. John Cornyn of Texas said Thursday.

"It is imperative that we take the time to gather all the facts, as it would be irresponsible to be the source of rumors or inaccurate information regarding such a horrific event," Cornyn said in a statement.

John Nichols: Horror at Fort Hood Inspires Horribly Predictable Islamophobia

snip//

But that did not stop right-wing web sites from exploding with incendiary speculation about a "Jihad at Fort Hood?" and a "Terrorist Incident in Texas."

Fox News host Shepard Smith asked Senator Hutchison on air: "The name tells us a lot, does it not, senator?"

Hutchinson's response? "It does. It does, Shepard."

Neither Smith nor Hutchison had any information to suggest that Major Hasan's name offered even the slightest shred of information regarding the incident at Fort Hood.

What could Hutchinson have said that might have been more responsible response?

She could have emphasized that the investigation of the shooting spree has barely begun.

She might also have noted that thousands of Muslims serve honorably, indeed heroically, in the U.S. military; that American Muslim soldiers have died In Iraq and been buried at Arlington Cemetery; that some of the first condemnations of the slayings at Fort Hood came from Muslim veterans such as Robert Salaam.

4. That's why I was asking.
I knew I hadn't heard all of her proclamations. She may be more dangerous then. A quiet bigot in power can secretly do more harm sometimes than those that run their mouths.

I stand corrected. Thanks.

6. Neither do I.
That's why I asked, and I am glad you brought that to my attention.

7. Hutchinson acted appropriately?
By giving out wrong information (that the guy was from Jordon) at a time when she should have known that information of this type should be suspect?

Cornyn (BTW, I hate them both, personally, viscerally, and with a passion)

Even Perry was careful to say that we needed to wait and see what the investigation revealed.

8. Don't let the helmet hair fool ya, there's a pointy head underneath.
Color me cynical but Kay Bailey Hairdo wants to be the next Governor so I wouldn't be surprised if she sought out the cameras.

9. Corny doesn't face reelection until 2014
He issued a statement, but didn't care to get his face on the news. Conversely, KBH is running for governor which is why you see her dumb ass on TV making her typical dumb ass statements.

10. Ah, the two distinguished senators from Texas-
Both gold plated douche nozzles and no mistake. But the great unwashed down here in Texass seem to love them. Although no rational person can guess why. Unresponsive to the voters, especially Cornyn and completely in the bag for the Tea Baggers. KBH will be whoring it up for the cameras because she wants to replace disgraceful Rick Perry in the governor's seat. Even more of a do nothing job than being a senator. Cornyn's attitude has always been that if you don't vote for him, than fuck you. The southeast has no lock on useless, disgraceful senators.

11. He has made comments about several things
that had common sense attached. I was surprised. I suppose the wing nuts will jump on him next. By the way you mentioned Cornyn how about Hair Guy Perry...I have not heard one word from him. Did he even go to the area.
