The last bastion of male dominance in the US Navy is about to be swept into history. While the eyes of the nation are focused on the first woman to have a shot at winning her party's nomination for President, the Department of the Navy has unveiled a project underway since last summer that will put women in submarines.

We are about to join other Navies by the way...

And I don't care if the Navy did this to avoid a USSC case or not... it is about BLOODY TIME.

Gals have good wings and following seas... good luck

1. Why exactly should Bush get credit for this?
As president, he might've signed off on this decision, but the article reads as if the decision was processed far further down the bureaucratic chain.

I don't mind giving Bush credit where it's due. He was certainly quick enough to denounce anti-Muslim/anti-Arabic bigotry & retaliation following 9/11 --- something he didn't have to do and which cost his points with some in his loony base. But that's not the case here.

2. Because it is UNDER HIS WATCH that the process started
he did this one right...

More like a stuck clock being right twice a day... but he will get the credit when the history books are written. Him and Chairman Mullen, who is making sure the policy is changed.

As a wife of a bubble head, now retired, this is a GOOD CHANGE... it means that sailors who are in the Sub service will be able to get better rotations...

3. Actually, he did a few things right, but I don't
think he was around when it happened in his name or that he even knew.

4. As I said above the few things he did right
were truly a stuck clock being right twice a day.

:-)

But I will recognize it when he did. The other one was the AIDS policy to Africa... it had some issues, but it was better than nothing.

Hey. now I am up to TWO things he did right. I am sure I cannot reach five...
