Federal funded clinics still exist, in fact are plentiful.

Here are 2 sites where you can find one in your area.
Very much worth it, they use sliding fee scale.
One site also has info. on how to get free scripts.

I have used the one in my area, they are fully staffed with caring doctors who chose to work in under-served areas.

6. There may be some things you would rather pay for out of pocket

instead of insurance.
And, the clinics can and do use insurance, it is a nice way to support them if you feel so inclined.

8. I think in our area they only serve people on Medi-Cal or with kids.

Plus, I own a business, so I have assets (technically speaking, lol, but last year had virtually no net income on paper, just incurred a mountain of debt) and probably don't qualify for services.
