Van Zandt is the former fed who they call in every time some shooter goes nutz or some blond girl goes missing. I don't think the guy intends to deceive. I think he just can't help himself. He has to be seen as the in-the-know former FIBBIE.

I also find him way to editorial and moralizing and way too out of the loop and ill informed.
