"V" Not An Attack on Obama
If all had gone well this show might have premiered during the Bush Administration. I am not trying to claim that the show would have been about Bush, but the production started during the Bush administration and due to a series of unfortunate events it premiered during the Obama Administration. The reason for the show premiering during the Obama Administration is that there was at least one strike and a few other events that caused the show to stay in production for a long time. Scott Peters, the executive producer of the show had this to say. "Because of the Writers' Guild strike, this show has been in development for a long time,". Another executive producer Jeffrey Bell added this, "This show was conceived during the Bush administration. It got executed in an Obama administration."

3. V
It had an audence of 14 million. For once no bad ratings for a show that Intrests me.

The primary people who are trying to compare them to Obama are right wing asses. These are the same ones
who complain about Liberal Hollywood.I hope people don't listen to them and watch the show.

7. First week says nothing.
14 million is how many tuned in because of the buzz of a remake. (Some because they remember the old one.)

If they think it sucked, however...

4.  But but, it is really important for some to vet TV shows for any
remotely anti Obama sentiment. :sarcasm: Even if it isn't there. Amazing that the producer would even have to explain himself to people. But hey, this is what counts, unlike real solutions to jobs ,healthcare and civil rights.

5. They made a reference to universal health care...

The aliens are trying to win over humankind, and their leader (Anna) was talking to a hot-shot
reporter about offering medical services to everyone on Earth. Apparently, they can heal most
diseases. The reporter turns and looks at Anna and says, "Are you talking about universal healthcare ?"
Anna replies yes.

I found that interesting that a dubious group would "bribe" human beings with "universal healthcare". It felt
like a slam against Democrats. After all, that is a Republican talking point--that we are trying to enslave people by getting
them dependent on government services.

I will say that there were many references about "going along" and how we should be wary of propaganda and also
learn to recognize it.

I was totally reminded of the neocons.

Probably one of the most stunning scenes was when Anna sat down to an interview with the hot-shot reporter (Scott Wolf).
It was three minutes until air time and she matter-of-factly stated that he could not ask any questions that "would
put us in a negative light." The reporter stammered and said that he was a journalist, and that he couldn't do that.
He went on to tell her that he "would be fair." She said that wasn't good enough and then canceled the interview two
minutes to air time. He then capitulated and the interview went on--with her saying on air that she wanted to be open
and honest and welcomed transparency.

I imagine there's similar arm twisting with the corporate media--that demands flattery when it helps the corporatocracy.

I'm totally hooked on this series. It's very well done and well written. Great special fx as well.

10. They're aliens. "Universal healthcare" in this sense would be anal probes and cattle mutilations.
They're probably doing this to fatten us up for a good reptilian Thanksgiving.;)

8. I loved it, and I agree it isn't an attack on Obama. Elizabeth Mitchell rocks my world.
She'll always be Juliet to me.
