heard from my sis at Ft. Hood again. two things
1. she said that at the base they are being told that there were 3 people aside from Hasan that were being held. two have been cleared and released from custody, one is still being held, and that Hasan is being treated and in custody.

2. she has not heard anything about him screaming "Allahu Akbar", but she has heard from several people, including soldiers who were brought in that had been shot that she was treating, that they heard him saying, "I'm not fucking going!"

also:

In news interviews Friday, the base's commander, Lt. Gen. Bob Cone, said witnesses have reported that the gunman yelled "Allahu Akbar" -- Arabic for "God is great" -- during the rampage. Cone said investigators had not confirmed that.

1. Allahu Akbar sells the package better
Edited on Fri Nov-06-09 12:40 PM by LynneSin
Extremist Muslim can be packaged and sold on the nightly news. Disgruntled soldier who is overstressed and doesn't want to server is a tough sell.

25. Seriously, when I hear that, I thought it was bullshit.
Just an easy way to make it a "them versus us" issue.

4. Thank you, SB
Fear and panic during a time of danger can cause people to think they see and think they hear almost anything. Different people who witness the exact same event can and often do give different versions on what took place.

We won't know until we do know.

6. exactly. too much happened yesterday, and it will take a few days,
maybe weeks to sort through all the mucky details.

my sis was very clear though, several soldiers heard him screaming "I'm not fucking going!" several times.

And consider the track record re overall aim & honesty of the M$M outlets shaping 'facts'
The 'official' story will change several times until its honed down sufficiently to 'sell' the perception that Power wants sold, and to bury the rest.

9. said when she took her boots off last night they were filled with blood.
she didn't sleep last night, but has since taken a nap.

she's not shaken up by the blood in terms of the procedures handling gun shot wounds. she's shaken up by the fact that it happened.

she said everybody is. she's going to counseling sometime this afternoon.

12. That's good. :^) I hope everyone else has such a good support system in place, expecially those who
lost a friend or loved one in the shooting. I can't imagine what this must be like for the spouses and kids left behind.

21. How far is your family from your sister?
It's wonderful that you all are helping her through this. I cannot imagine the torment that would come with having witnessed yesterday.

I'm glad your sister is holding up.

Or even an armed robbery. Crap. He didn't need to turn an Army base into a slaughterhouse.

23. Somebody on MSNBC
said that he spoke of his admiration of suicide bomber tactics to take out enemy soldiers.

Looks like he chose his religion over "his" Army, so the more he killed, the better, in his sick mind.

He most certainly should be tried for treason.

20. So the choice was: refuse orders or shoot up a place.
I guess the clear choice for this guy was not refusing orders because, you know, he was a "good soldier". :banghead:

At this point, it doesn't matter what he said - the news has already put the "allahu akbar" out there and most people are running with it as fact.

that! Trying to evaluate and psychoanalyze what went wrong with this guy. This guy had problems from the get go of his military career and he should have been kicked out.

I am glad your sister is okay!!

28. MAJOR fuck-up on Cone's part.
If if it happened, he should have never release that.

He's given the xenophobes plenty of ammo, and probably did some serious harm to the cohesiveness of units with Muslims in it - not to mention the safety of Muslim troops.
