The female cop who shot the gunman has been reported to be a contractor.

6. Almost all bases hire civilian police force
in addition to MP's. To my knowledge it has always been the case. Not enough MP's to take care of large bases.

FORT The top commander at Fort Hood is crediting a civilian police officer for stopping the shooting rampage that killed 13 people at the Texas post.

Cone said Munley shot the gunman four times despite being shot herself.
