When you see a conversation in progress on a DU thread, are you seeing consenting adults in action?
Alternatively, are the interactions in some cases examples of bullying, with two DU members sometimes ganging up against one?

Consider the following dialog:

Law Enforcement Officer: We had an anonymous tip, a complaint against you.

Innocent Man: I know what you're going to say. I am frequently seen entering my home late at night with two women, and it's the same two women every time.

Law Enforcement Officer: I wasn't going to say that. They're both with you at the same time?

Innocent Man: Yes, officer.

Law Enforcement Officer: Then they're the ones I need to speak with. They're ganging up on you. Good day, sir.

Note:
The above dialog is a variation on a theme.
Here's the original dialog. In the original dialog, the man brings home only one of the two women on any given night.

1. It doesn't matter how much I've praised some Obama policies, I'm still a "bitter Hillary supporter"
to folks here.

I have no personal or emotional stake in Hillary Clinton or President Obama. I look at and examine policies as they arise.

Folks here don't 'get' that detachment. Working in Washington and polling and a couple of poli sci degrees gave me that.

Politics are personal here, not about policy.

2. My thought is good for those three folks. It sounds to me like they
don't waste their time watching cable news programs and have discovered an alternative passtime.

Nothing on cable? Then how 'bout a 3-way at Dwayne's place?

And of course what Dwayne and his two pals do after hours behind closed doors is none of the cops' business.

10. I'm perfectly willing to give you an informative answer.
However, first I want you to understand that if you reply to my informative answer, then I will be forced to conclude that you are both stalking me and hitting on me.

However, please reply to this message, to tell me whether or not you want an informative answer. I will consent to have you reply to this message. It's the next one that could get you into trouble.

7. I usually read such threads discretely, as though I'm hiding in the shrubbery
I mean, if those consenting adults don't want to be seen in action, they could always shut the blinds.

enforcement officer did post a slam on people on this site, alleging that Islam is bad and Christiniaty is good and that all several-thousand of us operated on that basic polarity.

That poster was roughed up pretty good on several grounds, not least the broad-brush strokes.

He bailed quickly from his own post. The thread was later locked.

He might have considered a thread in the Religion / Philosophy forum and posed the question as an inquiry into the polarity across many settings. I wish he had. It would have bought him a lot better response, for one thing, and the rest of us might have learned more from each other.

A lot of the roughing up, IMO, is a response to the "moral scolding" posts. Generally speaking "consenting adults" on a liberal site don't need lectures on feminism and racism and religious polarities. Many of us have passed that point in the road some many moons ago and are often kerflufflelated (!) to discover someone braying at us in anger and division.

metaphysical tencencies.

And the answer to your question is that there are very few conversations at DU, most of it is mastubatory in nature.

Is that a conclusion based purely on theory, or do you have strong evidence that someone was coerced into posting on DU?

27. I have an imagination. It's purely a hypothetical on my part.

I imagine it's possible for a DUer to be the victim of an agonizingly prolonged home invasion. After being forced at gun point to provide liquor and snacks, then run baths for the criminals, it's possible that one or more might get their jollies out of having the terrified victim post cryptic republican-themed messages on a democrat forum. Not likely, but not impossible.

29. I've heard of criminals stealing cartons of cigarettes...
but I haven't heard of criminals stealing soap. Are you safer from home invasion if you happen to be all out of soap? Other things being equal, I would think criminals prefer a bath with soap rather than a bath without any soap.
