Scary Times
I am not generally a person who is paranoid or afraid of many things. But today something caused me to stop and wonder if I should be more afraid. Congress is talking today about a resolution praising the NY Yankees. I'm not sure such things need to be talked about on the floor, but they are. I remember my representative praising an American Idol contestant from my State--and my rep is Eric Cantor. Louis Gohmert, a congressman from Texas, stood up to "praise" the Yankees. He went on in his speech to talk about the possibility of a public option baseball team to compete with the Yankees. WTF. How does he have the nerve to compare cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc., with baseball. Has he no shame? With the leadership in this country stooping so low, I am coming to the realization that times are really scary.

2. This is also a time of revelation..
for many people who haven't listened or paid attention what has been going on for years. Now,a lot of people are really going crazy and trying to find someone to blame just because they refused to listen to anything but the slogans of the rightwing over many years, and the media who follow their every word.

Now,many people have been screaming to the hilltops about these fruitcakes and much is being revealed all at once. I waited and waited, and wondered and wondered what in the hell what was wrong with the people in this country and I would say a lot are insane! and living in the past..especially in the republiCON party...

3. The word that comes to my mind a lot lately is 'corrupt'
If we saw leaders in other countries acting like ours are acting we would instantly recognize the corruption.

Our government is corrupt. As corrupt as any third world dictatorship. One hand is out taking money from the corporations and we're thinking they have our best interests at heart. We really need to wake up and come to grips with reality.

4. You must be new to watching mornings in the House
Congresspeople have been getting up making mini-speeches praising everything from the Yankees to Mrs Smith's 3rd grade class who won the Nebraska state science fair since I was first introduced to C-Span by my father at the age of ten. And yes, there were serious issues then too.

5. Not New At All
I've been told by many people "to get a life" since I watch congress all day! While I see no need for the nonsense spoken, i.e., the American Idol, I have never seen an important issue compared to the nonsense.

6. I think I'll try that at work...
I'm an air traffic controller, which makes me a federal employee (like a Congressman) so it should be O.K.

Instead of doing the things that need to be done...like keeping airplanes from bumping into each other...I'll just key the mic and praise the Yankees.

What do you think?

7. Don't forget to condemn anyone who says something you don't like.
Unless they're Republicans. Then it's OK. But if a Democrat or MoveOn.org does something that can be twisted into an offense, be sure to blow your top over that. Take a vote on it or something. Disregard those planes bumping into each other while you do, they're on the ground so no biggie, right?
