You can just hear the derision for women on their lips
Edited on Fri Nov-06-09 09:20 AM by FlyingSquirrel
as the Republicans mouth their talking points during their one-minute speeches in the House this morning. "The Pelosi Bill". "The Nancy Pelosi Takeover".

Didn't we see this once before? Oh, yes. Back in 1992 when Hillary Clinton was in charge of healthcare reform in the early part of the year.

They spit the name "Pelosi" out like it's an insult. We all know it's not the person they hate... it's what she stands for.

---

Edit: I notice the cowards waited till she left before they started badmouthing her.

1. I would imagine that most one minute speeches this morning will
be about Fort Hood.

2. Nancy Pelosi

I don't like all that Nancy Pelosi does as speaker either, but I'm not about to personally attack her.

Yes, a large part of the attacks on Nancy Pelosi are misogynist, but they would attack anyone remotely more liberal than they are, with whatever emotionally charged garbage they can pull out of their own subconscious irrational fears, which carry some weight because they are echoed in the subconscious irrational fears of a large part of society.

Just look how they attack Obama.

But the fact remains that if either Pelosi or Obama are even a hair left of center it is just barely that.

Therefore what we need is caucasian male who is substantially to the left of Pelosi and Obama to run for Speaker to take some of the pressure off of Pelosi and Obama.

Kucinich for Speaker of the House!

Wouldn't that give them apoplectic fits?

3. True, but aren't our biggest criticisms against Palin, Bachmann, and Liz Cheney?
Edited on Fri Nov-06-09 09:58 AM by FSogol
People on both sides seem quick to criticize female politicians. (Not that I don't think the 3 I listed are fruit cakes and love the two you listed.)

4. These are self-hating excuses for women
They just wish they had been born boys so they could have a better excuse for their inherent contempt for real women.

5. It's not because they're female.
In order your three examples are stupid, batshit crazy, and evil.

8. Women are criticized in much harsher terms. 'Bitch', 'Harridan', 'cow', 'c***', etc.
Check out the shit Sharon Osbourne said about Susan Boyle - some real trash talking, then check out what folks are saying about Osbourne. It's ugly and harsh. Osbourne started it, and now she's getting it.

But you just don't see crap like this happening about men.

9. It's the same playbook
nothing to offer but detrimental abuse. The Republicans really hate this country,
they hate the fact that minorities can prosper, so they'll do anything to suppress
prosperity, anything that they feel will benefits minorities....there I said it.

Thats the underlying FACT.

10. Louise Slaughter is fun to watch in her Rules Committe hearing
right now. Drier (r) is getting red in the face. She is so cool. This is on the health care issue, c-span2.
