CAIR Should Have Representatives On EVERY News Show Condeming The Actions Of Hasan
Yeah, I know, you know, and most thinking people know Hasan does not represent the views of Islam.

That doesn't alter public perspective.

If CAIR has one iota of understanding about PR, they will be all over this condemning the actions, declaring them diametrically opposed to the teachings of Islam, and declaring any justification for the actions by anybody in the Muslim world to be anti-Islam.

And they need to do it before 3:00 PM EST today, else the window of opportunity closes and the Islamophobic bullshit will take over.

1. But will the news shows allow them on?
That's the issue. CAIR may want to go on every news show to condemn Hasan's actions, but it's not in the best interests of the WHOREporate media to report the truth about Arabs and Arab-Americans - not when there is still money to be made by their parent companies in the two wars in which we're now fighting.

2. If refused, they need to contact Media Matters
They'd get on MSNBC tonight if they were refused access.

And that would become the new direction in the story arc for the weekend.

3. Why? Where are the Christians condemning all the other murder rampages committed by their
followers?

5. It wouldn't matter. The whole "All muslims must apologize for the actions of extremists" line...
....is repeated ad nauseum by Islamophobes whenever there is either a terrorist attack or a single extremist attack committed by someone who professes to be Muslim, the entire Muslim religion will always be blamed by those who hate it. And there are always Muslim spokespersons from here or there that will always condemn or denounce the actions on this or that news media source, but let's be honest here. Islamophobes won't listen to CAIR. Islamophobes hate CAIR. And they'll simply stick their fingers in their ears and pretend nothing was ever said by CAIR because that's just who they are.

The fact of the matter is, the only two major legitimate religions with a single, visible unified leader that is able to speak on behalf of the religion and have the general public actually listen are Catholicism and Buddism. The rest of the major religions, including Islam, really don't have that luxury. So you'll have Person A or Person B from a given religion, with any range of given authority or stature, who might speak out about something, but really anyone with a biased view against that religion is just not going to care.

Personally, I think its pretty self evident that actions of extremists (or someone who was simply at a mental breaking point, which I think may have been the case in the Fort Hood case) don't speak on behalf of a larger, legitimate group (religion or not), and that there is no real reason for the larger group to have to apologize. This is the case with Muslims. And while I think some DUers don't want to admit this, it is also the case with abortion opponents in the face of the shooting of abortion doctors by an extremist. It may be a natural reaction for someone who doesn't like a certain group to blame an extremist's actions on the entire group, but that really isn't the right reaction in the end.

If you want real news, and press releases from the calm folk, you have to read.
