Pelosi should post-pone the healthcare vote an extra day...
out of respect for our troops that were killed today. Instead of tomorrow, she should postpone it until Monday. Let 'em chew on it over the weekend...

2. Last night a Congressperson (I forget who) said Saturday or Monday. Sounded like Monday.

Realistically.

This was on either Keith or Rachel's hour.

3. It's been delay waaaay too long already. People are dying
from lack of a health care bill.

5. Maybe they could actually READ the damn thing before they vote on it?

Nah.

6. Maybe they have read it or had their aides read it
I'd bet those who care about the health bill or were part of one of the bills it was made from have read (or had read) a great deal of it.

I'm sure even some republicans are picking through it to find parts that sound scary but they don't gave to read it to know how to vote no.

8. I'll bet that of the 435 representatives, at this point, maybe 2 have
read the whole 1990 pages. I'm sure there are several more, maybe 30 or 40 reps, that have read big chunks of it--200 to 400 pages worth. I'd assume that most of them have read at best a brief one- or two-page summary of the bill, or perhaps a 10-page precis written by some interns and junior staffers.

7. The vote is Saturday at 6:00 pm. We need to get it done. We are running out of
days this year to do it.

9. It shouldn't even be done now.
President Obama should be focusing 100% on turning the economy around and getting some jobs created. Once he succeeds with that--which is THE NUMBER ONE need and should be the top priority in the country--then he will have so much momentum and political capital that he could get single payer passed if he wanted.

10. Tomorrow he is signing the Worker, Homeownership and Business Assistance Act of 2009
which extends unemployment benefits and expands the home buyers tax credit.

They have to finish it now or it wont get done. There is no way they would bring it back up to go through the RW insanity again. They wouldn't touch it again with a 100 foot pole.

He can multitask. The economy is turning. It just doesn't turn all that fast - like his normal metaphor for this - A big ship takes a LONG TIME to turn around.
