The Ft. Hood Massacre dominated Hardball, so I muted it and listened to Handle's Judas Maccabaeus as I cooked supper. I got the gist of Ft. Hood in the first five minutes, and quite frankly that was enough. After almost six months away (lacking five days), I was not ready for a massacre story.

KO's Countdown came on as I sat down to my repast. Olberman led with a Michelle Bachman rally story. Why did I watch it? Way too crazy for me now.

What happened while I was gone? The right-wing is crazier by a quantum leap since I last watched TV in early May. I feel that the Democrats are out of control. I'm jonesing for the seclusion and comfort of the wilderness lookout tower.

2. I can't imagine a much more disheartening thing

than coming back from spending months in a beautiful wilderness and then hearing Michelle Bachmann's demented ravings. I'd want to go back to the woods and not come out for a very long time.
