H1N1 Shot? Get in line behind Wall Street (update, need help here)
Edited on Thu Nov-05-09 08:24 PM by Omaha Steve

Some help here. The link starts and then goes to a different page. Is there a way to see the correct page?

My hands are trembling I'm so upset right now. This morning, the Today Show reported that big banks like Citi and Goldman Sachs have been shipped private stocks of the H1N1 vaccination while at-risk Americans are still waiting to get their shots.

Tell big banks: donate your h1n1 shots

There's no excuse for this. Pregnant women have been waiting in line for hours to get that shot. Community hospitals across the country have been turning patients away while they wait to receive their vaccinations. But Citi and Goldman Sachs have already received 1,400 doses between them.

Will you tell Citi and Goldman Sachs to do the right thing and donate their vaccinations to community hospitals in need? Click here: http://action.seiu.org/page/s/h1n1

Wall Street banks have already taken so much from us. They've taken trillions of our tax dollars. They've taken away people's homes who are struggling to pay the bills. But they should not be allowed to take away our health and well-being.

Tell the big banks to donate their H1N1 vaccinations to community hospitals that need them most: http://action.seiu.org/page/s/h1n1

Thanks,
John VanDeventer

2. Many large corporations have a medical staff.
Not to defend the bastards, but I expect bigger retailers got shipments, too. It's part of the distribution plan from CDC.

FWIW I got my H1N1 vaccine this afternoon at the local clinic.

9. Corporate offices with a few hundred or more employees often have in-house medical clinics
Edited on Thu Nov-05-09 09:24 PM by FarCenter
They handle routine medical services, like vaccinations, so that employees don't have to take time off to go to off-premises doctor's offices. They also provide emergency medical services, such as resucitation of heart attack victims.

Large financial firms employ lots of women, a percentage of whom would be pregnant, have diabetes, etc., and be in the high priority for vaccination. Back office functions, like check processing, account opening, mortgage or loan application processing, etc. are mostly women.

So long as corporate medical offices follow the CDC priority list, I don't see anything wrong with their adminstering the vaccinations.

4. If we're talking bank tellers, that's one thing
they interact with a lot of people and handle a lot of cash that could spread the virus, if we're talking investment bankers who sit behind a desk and don't interact with many people or actual cash (which it sounds like we are) then WTF? :wtf:

7. And you know why there wasn't enough shots
for the seniors who usually got them. People were scared and lined up for shots, instead of reserving them for seniors like they usually did they gave them to anyone who wanted them and ran out. They say they are not going to make more. But new H1N1 should be ready about the middle or last of November. If you missed the original shot you will likely not get one. Just do every thing you can to avoid crowds etc. The doctor they interviewed said people rushed to get the seasonal flu shots and the ones who got them probably didn't need them.

8. I'm a bit confused about distribution
My children and I were given the H1N1 vaccination two weeks ago by our family doctor, for free. It was my doctor's idea. He insisted that I also (along with my children) receive one because of a chronic medical condition (that would not be life threatening to me, but painful).

Weird thing, though, they were out of seasonal flu vaccines and had had their last shipment canceled for reasons unknown to them.
