girardi-pie.jpegJohn Munson/The Star-Ledger Yankees manager Joe Girardi got a pie in his face from pitcher A.J. Burnett after winning the World Series. After he left the ballpark, Girardi came to the aid of a motorist who had crashed her car. As if earning the distinction of managing a team to a World Series victory wasn't enough, Yankees manager Joe Girardi acted as a Good Samaritan on Thursday morning.
Hours after guiding the Yankees to a World Series title, Girardi came to the aid of a 27-year-old woman involved in a car crash on the Cross County Parkway in Westchester County, N.Y.
Around 2:25 a.m. Thursday, a car driven by Marie Henry skidded off the road as it was going around a curve and struck a wall. The driver was left stunned, but was otherwise uninjured, according to a report by the Journal News.
Girardi was the first to arrive on the scene. He stopped his car across the highway and crossed three lanes of traffic to reach the vehicle and check on the condition of its passenger.
As police arrived near the scene, Girardi signaled to get their attention by jumping and waving his arms. Once they were there, Girardi said he had to leave, though not to make another pitching change.
