Someone Please Debunk the "Medicare Benefits Endangered" TV Spot
There is an anti-health-care TV spot running in AZ (don't know if it's running everywhere).

It claims that "government reports state that under the planned health care legislation, many seniors will have their benefits cut".

Fine print refers to the institutions that produced the report, and cites "p. 8" as the source of the claim that "benefits will be slashed for many seniors".

The ad is "PAID FOR BY AMERICAS HEALTH INSURERERS" - that's why I doubt the veracity.

Does anyone know what report they are referring to, and why the claim is not true?

1. They are trying to make
the Advantage plans more ethical. They are what is bringing Medicare down. Since bush got congress to privatize this part of Medicare, costs have skyrocketed. They charge Medicare more and the clinics, doctors and hospital much more than regular Medicare. And they say there is a lot of fraud. That's what they are trying to do with Medicare, reign in this private companies and I don't blame them.

3. Is this the one harping on $500 billion in new taxes?

When it ignores the fact that the "new" taxes are merely rescinding the Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthy?

Check www.factcheck.org, too.

5. I know it's lies/propaganda, but was hoping somebody knew
the specific report that is referred to, and the specific reason why it is a bogus concern.

My GUESS was that some part of Medicare funds were going directly into the pockets of private insurance companies, and the new plan would take away those benefits AND replace them with some pubic benefits, but I'd still like to know the specifics, if possible.
