Yankees and Democratic Administrations?
One of those emails that cross the tubes:

Since the Yankees won their first pennant (1921), every Democratic president except Lyndon Johnson has presided over two or more Yankee world championships. And during the past 50 years, the Yankees have won eight World Series in the 20 years in which a Democrat occupied the White House and have not won a single championship in the 30 years in which a Republican was president. During the past half century, the Yankees have won 40% of the time when a Democrat is president and 0% of the time when a Republican is president. So it should not have surprised you that the Yankees have not won a World Series since October 2000.

I've been a fan, anyway, for over 50 years; but this is all the more reason.

(And I leave tomorrow for a conference in ... Philly.)

2. I Heard This a Few Weeks Ago
and kept telling my husband, a Yankee fan for over 60 years, that he didn't have to worry! I'm so glad I was right. And now, keeping my fingers crossed, the Yankees will have eight more wins.

3. Not a sports fan myself, but i liked this analysis
especially since some RWers at first tried to present it as "Clinton's curse.."
