This could be a terrorist attack...

No, not foreign, but domestic.

The US Military relaxed its recruitment standards quite a bit over the course of the last few years because of a couple of wars you all know about This relaxation meant that recruiters actually allowed Militia members to join and get that first rate military training. Not saying that this was a militia, but you can bet your sweet potatoes that right now somewhere in the bowels of DOD a poor shmuck is taking those files out and started a process called a top down review.

Now if these guys happen to have any ties to the militias... this in my view is indeed the other shoe started to drop... the other shoe I have feared for years now.

Now I will say this, the POSSIBILITY that this is indeed terrorism is not that wild... just that this terrorism is not exactly coming from abroad ok. But I will use the word if and when we do get the confirmation (other shoe dropping)...

Oh and as Frenchie Cat pointed out, this is a year after the election of Obama. This is the first full day of that election...

So there you have it... and no, I suspect as more details emerge that this is not just about a deployment, or PTSD, as horrible as both can and are...

with PTSD. My father served on the front lines in WWII for three years, but then it was OVER.

Just consider infantry soldiers sent REPEATEDLY over to the Middle East. Those within the enlisted and middle enlisted ranks would see HORRIFIC SIGHTS over and over again.

What does that do to the mental health of a person? Some people become depressed and/or self medicated with alcohol or drugs ... but some emotionally de-compensate.

If three of these soldiers have united in their delusional HATE, then there you have it: Home grown (and deployment) terrorism.

IMO, I think it's a combination of factors not the least of which is mental illness. Perhaps not in the legal sense but no NORMAL person would open up an automatic weapon in a theater full of people. It's INHUMANE. Just vile. :(

I have to say it would be highly unusual for more than one person suffering from PTSD to conspire to do something like this. I'm not saying that it couldn't happen, only that it would be unusual, since flashbacks are an individual occurance.

It's possible that the officer involved had a great deal of influence on the other suspects, but that's just my opinion.

CNN is now reporting that the dead suspect had 2 handguns, not an M-16 as previously reported. Also, there is no conformation that the other 2 suspects (now in custody) were involved in the actual shooting, only that they are suspects.
