Fox News owns this sign

November 05, 2009 2:41 pm ET by Matt Gertz

Center for American Progress' Matthew Yglesias brings us these images, originally taken by his colleague Lee Fang at this afternoon's anti-health care rally on Capitol Hill:

That's the caption "National Socialist Health Care, Dachau, Germany - 1945" over the piled corpses of Holocaust victims.

Fox News figures have spent the last few days aggressively promoting this rally. One of their hosts, Glenn Beck, has spent the last six months joining other media conservatives in comparing every aspect of President Obama's program -- including his health reform plan -- to that of the Nazis.

Fox News owns this sign.

111. Called Boehner's office and said that he should have denounced
Edited on Fri Nov-06-09 02:31 PM by The Wielding Truth
this and any low personal attacks by anyone in a group which he is representing. I said that I have seen Barack Obama stop any personal disrespectful acts at his appearances, and any leader, unless he agrees with the signs and actions, should require his audience to be civil and respective of the opponent or cause.

I didn't let him use the excuse that it was only one sign and that everyone one has the freedom to say what they will. I said that leaders should lead in civility. If that was the body of your grandmother or aunt or uncle or father or mother, would you like it to be used as a cheap propaganda tool? I told him that we should work together to solve our health care dilemma. He then said that he would note the message.

I thanked him.

Tell them how you feel about this.

Here's the # 202-225-6205 for Boehner's office

Michelle Bachman 202-225-2331 called~busy

Eric Cantor 202-225-2815 called~busy

36. A holocaust, not THE Holocaust.
You can make the case that it was still inappropriate if you believe, as many do, that the word should be reserved for that Holocaust alone, but it's not the same thing as that sign.

44. He wasn't referring to any particular historical holocaust
He was describing it as "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oh5SLeOgqjI">this holocaust". It's a word that's not reserved for just one particular historical event. Personally I think he'd have been better off using the word genocide to avoid all the misdirected reactions he got, and appears to still be getting.

93. He was using a word that has meaning other
than "The Holocaust" which is capitalized for a reason. Miriam Webster definition of holocaust is: "a thorough destruction involving extensive loss of life especially through fire <a nuclear holocaust>" so yes he was referring to an extensive loss of life other than "The Holocaust". It is correct use of language and cannot even remotely be compared to the display and exploitation of victims of The Holocaust in order for extremists to push a false point.

I mean, they define the term. No logical reasoning skills at all, they swallow whole every huge lie Limpballs and O'Lielly push down their throats, and they're furious that a black man is in the White House. They're ignorant, incompetent, and I would bet the vast majority are sucking at the teat of government through Social Security and Medicare.

80. It makes me wonder if teabaggers just haven't been to Europe at all in their lives.
If they went there, I think they might get a clue.

I don't wish problems on anyone, but my travel broker, himself a conservative, was hit by a motorbike in Portugal and was taken to the hospital. He raves about the care he got and says that when he came back and was checked out by his primary care doc she said "whatever they did over there, it was great." He told that to my group last month travelling there, so as to reassure those who hadn't ever been to Europe that they need not worry about health care if something happens on the trip. Maybe these teabaggers should have such an experience. It sure had an effect on the travel broker...

No wonder Dubya maintains his popularity with this segment of the population to this day.

Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid

They don't effing know anything outside of what they are told by whoever they decided was their authority in all matters.

Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid

When I saw that Dachau sign -- an image I have known from earliest childhood used in this manner, words absolutely failed me. The only thing I could think of in my shock was:

Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid

A human is not born that stupid. They have to work at it for a lifetime to achieve that level of scum-sucking bottom-dwelling sheer mindlessness.

83. You nailed it. And as Ineeda says, they are not only stupid but just plain evil
I am still haunted by the images and stories of the WWII concentration camps that I first became aware of when I was a kid shortly after the war's end. The horrors are beyond comprehension, and the fact that those images are being used as a comparison with the proposed health care reform is beyond reprensible. Unfortunately, these same miserable excuses for human beings do not have the capacity to feel shame about their actions. I, however, can pronounce shame and reproach upon them with every fiber of my being, for whatever that's worth.

86. It was in a sense.
Every war effort was socialized. Every national resource was turned toward the goal of defeating the allies. That was kind of socialistic in a sense.

But it is quite a stretch to compare Nazi Germany with any existing social democracy we see today. Of course Faux News makes stretches of this kind every day keeping their viewers in a constant state of increasing ignorance and anger.

To liken Health care reform in 21st century America to what the unspeakable crimes that occurred in the concentration camps of nazi Germany is more than just over the top; it makes those who would advocate this totally out of bounds, out of mind and out to lunch. It's enough to wonder if these people are sane; because that is not an analogy that any sane and civilized person would make; not by a mile. :scared:

Yup. That about shoehorns it in there.

Faux/Limbaugh viewers are so gullible that they will believe absolutely anything. They want to believe. They cling to the next revelation by Glenn Beck.

If we only had known we could have made a fortune investing in ammunition. Faux viewers have spent a fortune on guns and ammunition in preparation for the day when Obama comes to take them away.

64. K&R and something else Fox will own...
...if we don't turn it around, and fast.

I got this email from a friend last night. He's still a friend, despite his politics, but I have no choice but to fight him on this one:
Please take 10 seconds to vote and turn this around

Fox News is losing in an NPR Poll, but with the power of the Internet we can turn that around in a few hours.

If you haven't heard this, the White House is accusing Fox News of not being a legitimate source of news, calling them biased, etc. They have tried to block Fox reporters from news conferences, etc., NPR has put a survey online for us to voice our opinion.

Currently it is 73% in favor of the White House, because mainly liberals log on to the NPR website.

If Fox loses this poll you can bet Obama will mention it as support for his attack on Fox.

Let's show them how we feel about honest conservative news reporting.

To vote log onto:
http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2009/10/in_white_house_vs_fox_news_war.html

Then ... forward this to all your conservative friends!

Note especially: "73% in favor of the White House." When I went to check this out, it had already swung to 86% in favor of Fox.

Talk about a swing vote!

As I read the poll, only a little over two hundred thousand voters had favored the White House. If that represented 73% of the total when the email went out, that would have been a total response of just over three hundred thousand. By the time I'd got there, it had risen to over 1.7 MILLION votes, over 1.5 million of them for Fox! That's up from LESS than a hundred thousand, if I got the math right.

Looks like someone else has figured out "grass roots" mobilization.

Okay, this probably isn't that big a thing. The poll came out over a week ago (October 23), and probably isn't going to make any news cycles now. Hell, I hadn't even heard of this thing before my friend mistook me for a conservative. Still... this is NPR. Do we really want them to think their listeners have swung so hard to the right? Sure, they must be smarter than that, but do we even want to allow the possibility?

Surely, we must have enough here alone to turn the tables back?

And don't forget to tell all your liberal friends!

71. "God damn America"?
How are the survivors of Dachau supposed to feel about this, or the next of kin of those who died there?

It's even worse when you realise that Dachau, of all camps, was the one where gay people were subjected to horrible lobotomy experiments - the protest is staged by people who support initiatives like Proposition 8 (California)or proposition 1 (Maine). It gets even more bad when we remember how many Jews and others were deliberately killed in Dachau for racist reasons- including family of my boyfriend - and now their memory is invoked by people who have a decidedly racist streak to their opposition against Mr Obama?

It feels like the ascend of 1984: everything gets twisted, nothing is holy anymore - anything goes to mask the lack of principled opposition by the Republicans.

I won't channel the Rev. Wright and try to encourage God to damn a certain land, but I hope these people get lots of mercy from God if ever they stand before His judgement - they'll need all the mercy they can get.

118. I seriously think that many ARE Blasphemers. "God" WILL correct them, . . . .
and the rest of us too (because Truth, by definition, is inevitable), and it stands to reason that the bigger your mistake, e.g. "I KNOW the mind of God AND the Future in re such and such," that is, the bigger your mistake, the bigger the correction.

I just hope as/when it all happens the more humble amongst us don't HAVE to suffer tooooooooo much for the errors of others, but then that IS what the life of Yeshua shows and us and he did say that he IS with us always.

ALL of The Innocent Dead and Suffering, all of those who suffer and die at the hands/minds of others, ARE (literally, concretely, right-here-and-now) Jesus.
