She has not heard from him today and is waiting for a call from the base.

She did and said he had been on base for three days, they live off base.

They have two little girls, and she is upset obviously, and I am all the way in ohio :(

he drives a tank. I just want a call. Something.

I told him when he left Ohio for Texas and he was told he would go to Afghanistan to keep his head down.

I hope he did. I just wish they would tell us something.

and I feel so wrong in some ways for hoping those who died who were not my son but someone else's. I just can't help but be selfish here.

So many thoughts racing through my head, needing to vent but don't know how really.

Worried.

hopeful. scared. My dad is trying to be strong, but is outside blowing leaves. I am going out to pace on porch and wait.

I want phone to ring but I don't.

Hopefully later I will be happy and all is ok, but then there are others who won't be.

36. i wonder if that's what she was explaining. she's supposed to call us again later.

she said she found out what was going on while she was walking to the hospital. saw bodies on the ground. called the soldiers she rooms with and told them to get inside and lock up and to get down.

she made in into an office at the hospital. she said the first vitims were brought in as what she said was "a truckload".


this whole thing is beyond fucked up.

46. She has not heard from him as of midnight

She was scheduled to pick him up this morning, so I am hoping she gets to the base and he is there waiting on her.

The good news is - that no one has called to say he was harmed in any way, which we suppose they would have if he had been.

Will be talking to her on his cell shortly (I don't want to wake the grandkids or I would be calling now...)

Thanks to all, has been rough just waiting to hear something, anything - and then hearing hours of silence instead.

My brother in-law is a chopper mechanic/pilot in the Coast guard.
There was a chopper crash off the coast of California last week.
I was very worried he might have been involved.
Any time I hear about Coast guard accident I worry for my sister's family.

Thankfully it was too far south (LA) but i am with you, anytime something like this happens where family is stationed, it is very worry some.

I hope for the best for your family.

63. We FINALLY talked on the phone at about 10:30pm est - waited all day for a call

He was still on base but his wife was there to pick him up. He is going to call me tomorrow and talk longer and fill me in on all what went down from his perspective.

I am sooooo happy he called :)
