9. I am a VIP, too. I got mine 10/26
Actually the most important VIP is our kid who is under 6 month old and can't get the vaccination yet.

It sucks that so many have not been able to get the shot. My brother-in-law and his whole family came down with it two weeks ago. The bad thing is that my SIL is undergoing chemo and is severely immunocompromised. She had to take 5 different meds to make sure that she survives it.

To give the first doses to wallstreet execs is unbelievable. This is outrageous.

18. It's NOT being given to Wall Street execs.
It's given to DOCTORS at those firms, who pledge to give it only to people who belong to medically-defined at risk categories.

19. Thanks for the info.
I just hope the doctors are willing and able to refuse to give them to executives who are not in the higher risk categories. Some people might have a hard time to say no to someone who is essentially paying their salary.

20. Doctors would be in deep doo-doo if they violated the pledge.
They most likely have to document each person who gets the vaccine.

23. link in your link, White House: No H1N1 vaccine yet at Gitmo
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-tc-nw-briefs-1103-11040nov04,0,4867925.story
November 4, 2009
The White House said Tuesday that detainees at Guantanamo Bay are not yet receiving vaccinations against swine flu.

Presidential spokesman Robert Gibbs said concern that terrorism suspects at the U.S. naval base in Cuba were receiving vaccines was misplaced. He said no vaccines are at the base and none are on the way. A spokesman for the U.S. jail facility said a day earlier that guards and then detainees were scheduled for inoculations. Critics were fast to object, saying U.S. civilians were still waiting for vaccines.

Army Maj. James Crabtree said Monday that doses should start arriving this month and that medical personnel requested the doses. He said detainees will be vaccinated "entirely on a voluntary basis."

10. Just shows who is really important. Oh, and don't forget the
prisoners. They got their vaccine already.

Meanwhile, our little town has had to cancel the vaccine clinic. No doses available.

12. Neither vaccine is available here. The only way you can get a shot is
if your doctor has any. My Doc does not have any left of the few he received. We're all just waiting. The office said to keep calling.

The government-funded vaccine is being distributed to states, where health departments decide where to send the limited doses. In New York, health officials are allowing businesses with onsite medical staff to apply for the vaccine.

Doctors for large companies can ask for the vaccine along with other doctors but must agree to vaccinate only high-risk employees like pregnant women and those with chronic illnesses, said Jessica Scaperotti, a spokeswoman for New York City's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Last month, the city began offering vaccine to schoolchildren, as well as pediatricians and obstetricians who asked for it. Scaperotti said only half of the pediatricians in New York City have requested vaccine

"As the vaccine became more available we expanded it to adult providers," Scaperotti said. She called the large employers "a great avenue for vaccinating people at risk."

They offered it first to schoolchildren and pediatricians and ob-gyns. THEN they offered it to employers including Columbia university and Time Warner cable. Wall Street firms didn't get any special treatment.

21. Devil's advocate...
...says it's maybe not a good idea for the people who run the markets to get sick en masse during a massive recession.

They suck. But they're also the ones running the main machine. That makes them vital to national security.

22. Maybe the govt. wanted to test it on them so if it didn't work they would die first?
Just a theory but maybe the govt. actually is looking out for us and they were hoping to kill of all the wall street execs if the vaccine didn't work.
