John Ratzenberger's teabagging speech transcript
from closed caption transcript:

jon voight>> And now another friend of
mine, your children may know him
as ham the pig from "toy story."
Others may know him as the
creator of an environmental
packaging system that replaces
styrofoam.
Or as an author.
Others simply know hims s cliff
from cheers.
Ladies and gentlemen, john
ratzenberger.

Ratzenberger>> Thank you.
Thank you.
I'm certainly humbled to be here
as the son of a truck driver and
factory worker from bridgeport,
connecticut.
It really is quite an honor.
And what we have to remember is
for every working man and woman
in our great country that these
people that are trying to force
this health care bill upon us
are not the philosophical
descendants of john kennedy and
tip o'neill.
They're the philosophical

descendants of abby hoffman and
wavy gravy.
These are woodstock democrats.
Let me explain what I mean by
that.
I was at woodstock, I was a
carpenter, I helped build the
stage.
What's that?
That's right.
When it started raining and
everything fell apart because
nobody was prepared.
It was misery, it was a mess.
And very people they railed
against in their philosophical
outlook on life, the military
and the government were the very
people the souchbtd helicopters
coming over the hill, it was the
national guard that saved
woodstock.
It's the very people against
that are saving them still to
this day.
We have to remember that.
We have to remember where their
philosophy comes.
It doesn't come from america, it
comes from overseas.
It comes from socialism.
And socialism is a philosophy of
failure, the creed of ignorance
and gospel of envy.
Its inherent virtue is the equal
sharing of misery.
And I've got to thank winston
churchill for that quote.
I want to thank you all for
being here.
God bless us all.

>> You bet ya, usa.
Today is a very important day.
The energy of all our past
presidents are surrounding us.
Those who lived in our majestic
white house, they in their
administrations kept america
safe and intact.
As the united states of america

following our great constitution
and all the beliefs an teachings
of our founding fathers.
They protected our liberties and
freedoms.
But I'm sad to say president
obama and this administration
are not doing the same.
Far from it.
I am honored to be at the side
of michelle bachmann, a great
congresswoman.
A great human being and a true
american patriot, to hopefully
be a voice for all americans who
do it not want to pass obama
government-run health care.
We do not want our freedom of
choice taken away from us.
President obama has his own
obsession with trying to ram
this health bill through to
create a socialist america.
We would be no better off than
the european countries, canada
and new zealand who suffer
greatly from a poor health care
system.
They're rationing system creates
many deaths.
Is that what we want?
I agree with you.
I say no as well.
We, as freedom loving americans
must not be scared into obama's
radical chicago tactics.
His agenda is not for the poor,
it is solely for his political
gain.
The lies and propaganda are all
very blatant, as shown to us by
those who exposed A.C.O.R.N.,
Icich -- which is as corrupt as
all the president's czars.
And obama is willing to deny his
connection to A.C.O.R.N.,
Claiming no awareness of
A.C.O.R.N. Support from all our
tax dollars.
This country, this country is

showing signs of his failed
stimulus programs.
His only success in his one year
term as president is taking
america apart piece by piece.
Could it be he has had 20 years
of self-conscious programming by
reverend wright to damn america.
Let them hear our concerns and
deep commitment to our love of
liberty, freedom and protection
of our great america.
President obama, how long is it
going take you to bring victory
in afghanistan and not sit idly?
And not idly while we watch our
soldiers being killed?
God bless our great nation god
prevail.

2. So Ratzenberger wasn't acting on Cheers, huh?
He's just as stupid and clueless in real life as his character was on the show.

19. Probably more so.
He was coached for the show. Cliff was a big step up for Ratzenberger.

I used to enjoy Cheers. Now whenever I watch, I'll remember what pieces of crap Grammer and Ratzenberger are. Any other clueless freaks on that show? If so, I may just have to quit watching completely, although it's kind of rare these days that I catch it.

40. Me too.
I try to get around that by enjoying how stupid Ratzenberger's character was. And how Dr. Crane was a perpetual loser. Those two didn't have to act much.

Edited on Thu Nov-05-09 01:00 PM by dana_b
lol okay, whatever you say. From the movie, it looked like people were happy to slide around in the mud.

These guys are delusional. Evidently Obama and Acorn are the downfall of our society - not endless war, poverty, unemployment, unrestricted capitalism and a lack of health care. Nah- it's one man and a community organization

20. The hippies had their own choppers:
Before Woodstock there was the Miami Pop Festival

<snip>

"Michael Lang was frantic. His first big production, the Miami Pop Festival, was about to go down in flames on opening day. As Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention tore into their set at Gulfstream Race Track in Hallandale, Lang realized that members of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, scheduled to go on next, were missing.

"We tracked them down through the airline and got a hold of Gerry Stickells, who was Jimi's road manager,'' Lang recalls from his home in upstate New York. ``Apparently they had missed the pick-up cars. So we arranged for a helicopter to come and get them.''

"That was a surprise to everybody,'' says photographer Ken Davidoff, then 19. Armed with a press pass from the Palm Beach Sheriff's Department, Davidoff snapped pictures of the dapper Hendrix, bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell as they scooted under the rotor blades of a chopper and made their way toward the stage set up on a flatbed truck.

"It was a precursor to our hiring every helicopter in New York state next time around,'' Lang says. Next time would occur 15 months later when almost half a million music lovers converged on a farm in Bethel, N.Y., for the cultural and generational milestone known as Woodstock. When the roads to the festival site became clogged with traffic, Lang, one of four organizers, once again called out the choppers to deliver his headliners."

Not all Boomers are right-wing nutjobs, but why are most right-wing nutjobs you see on TV yelling, screaming, holding up poorly spelled signs and generally making dicks of themselves . . . Boomers? Did they turn into "Reagan Democrats" (while the economy imploded around them) and I just missed it?

42. Sounds like a typical liberal actor that made money
He still hangs onto a lot of his liberal ideals, but has make up a lot of excuses for why he's conservative because he can't come right out and say "I don't to share all my money with you dirty people". There's always been a few tired old liberal turned conservative actors. This generation of them isn't any different than the Reagan/Heston generation. I respect them for their idealism of their youth, feel bad for the misery of their old age.
